I am a 23 year old virgin. All the guys I've been close to tell me they are turned off by my pubic hair. Is pubic hair a big problem? Should I shave to make guys happy ?
Being shaved is the norm and most common preference now. But you can always shave (or trim/groom, there's options in between full bush and bare naked) after you met someone... you are only trying to please one specific person, they could be an exception.
Also I don't know how strongly you feel about this, but if you really hate the look of having none (I know I do), I don't think this is the kind of issue that would be a dealbreaker to most guys if they already got to know you and like you a lot. At the very least it's something you can discuss together. I'd say if a guy gets you naked then turns around because your pussyhair styling isn't up to his preferences, he was never serious to begin with.
Also it depends on where you live. Eurofag here and having pubic hair is a lot more normal here than what I hear from American stories.
Ive never minded the look of pubic hair. Ive never been with someone who doesnt shave though so I dont know if it makes it smell worse.

I think for me, it depends on how clean your pubes are. I have never shaved/trimmed my pubes in my life, so not only do I leave pubes everywhere due to the sheer volume (and length) they are constantly full of lint, dead skin and sweat, due to difficulty in washing. If your lady garden is of a similar quality, i would hesitate to go down on you, but I wouldn't be perturbed. I recommend trimming and good washing habits. Sanitation is key

Yes, shave, or at the very least get a trimmer and trim as close down as you can. Having a huge bush of hairy pubic hair is shitty for sex. I wax because I'm rather self conscious about body hair. I know this doesn't really answer your question but I hope you find it helpful in case you go fo removing it.
Hair removal is different from person to person so it's totally useless to recommend a specific method, I wax because when I've tried shaving I've never gotten a result as good as I do when waxing and hair grows faster, plus it itches like hell after a day or two.
Waxing is effective and lasts (you have to be comfortable with a bit of hair though, because you have to wait for it to grow a bit to wax again) but it's pricy (around $50 where I live) and rather painful, and I don't think it should be expected, but hey, we all have our preferences.
