Can a 26-27 year old guy going to college do well socially? Like developing friends or dating women?

Does anyone else have personal experience with this?

26 is not old dude. Plenty of people your age and up in school.
>>
But I'd just like to add that despite the early 20 year-olds and their youthfulness they aren't all making friends or even socializing that much.

Hmm, so they don't view it as weird or creepy?
>>
if you aren't social to begin with, college will be no different than your current situation

I am in an art program in uni with a 32 years old guy. He is the life of the party, made a lot of friends and people like to hang out with him cause he's mature and has good ideas.

It all depends on your attitude, I think.

Savior.

Dude your fine. I see people like 30 years old in the music department in the same class as me as a music major freshman. And they actually really chill to talk to. Don't be afraid of 18/19 year old shits like me. And usually when your older, you have a lot more interesting stories and backgrounds than teens. Even if you might be online all day, you're sure to have interesting stories to someone in the huge population of college. You get to learn too, school is cool.

Underrated post, so much this. College is what you make of it

to expand on this a bit
almost everything is what you make of it
>>
as long as you act like youve been there and done that.

be cool.

Professor writing here.

Relax. There are more people in your age group (say, over 25) than you realize. College isn't just for 18 year olds anymore, and every college has 25% or more older students.

They're not immediately visible, because they tend to live off campus or be part-time. But if you take evening classes, or hang out at the snack bar around dinner time, you'll spot them.

Some colleges have clubs, support offices or even a Dean for older students.

(Incidentally, you didn't ask, but my experience is that people your age make the best students. You know why you're there - which a lot of 18 year olds don't - and are focused and motivated better.)

Do you think its easier to segregate yourself based on age rather than mix?

This.

Yes. Unless you're prematurely aging and bald or some shit, you probably don't even stand out enough for people to notice consistently, much less avoid you for it. If you put a bunch of 22 year olds in a room and ask people to guess age for each of them you'll get numbers from 16 to 30.

Pretty much. I'm several years older than most others around here and it doesn't matter one bit: i look younger than many 19-year-olds and am a hermit anyway.
