It looks like a bug bite, it could be a spider bite. If you see red lines spreading from it or if the center starts to sink in and start to ooze puss then go to the doctor asap as it could be a venomous bite. If its just itching and red don't worry.

Looks like a carbuncle, you have been squeezing.
I get these sometimes, and find a HOT cloth will bring it to a head. Put one on for 10-15 minutes then wash it with bar soap it helps draw out the moisture. Repeat a few times a day and you should see a white head form. Then pop that sucker. Carbunkles under the arm can be really deep and you will just make it sore squeezing it.
It you cant pop it just keep the hot cloth and bar soap, and it'll dry out and go away in a few weeks.

If it was nail polish, you could see either the polish pooling at her cuticles if she sucked at applying the polish, or a small area of natural nail if she didn't which would look like a tiny area where the colour was different to the rest of her nail. Neither are there, those are her natural nails. I know what nail polish looks like, and there isn't any there
