I'm not saying trans people are out of luck, but the definition of male or female is already incredibly overrated. I consider myself a man in the sense that I have a penis and that's pretty much it. I don't seek validation that I am a man, or confirmation that I am not a woman. I get the impression a lot of trans people somehow their gender changes by wearing different clothes and having a different hairstyle...tomboys can look like men but they're still woman, I don't think they consider themselves men either.

Well everyone is different, as you know. And the word "transgender" is an umbrella term that includes all kinds of different people. I can't really speak to anything except my experience.
I am attracted to men and maybe also women. And I don't own any dresses or skirts and feel too self-conscious to wear makeup. But I feel better about my body with the breasts, fat redistribution, and skin changes. I look and feel and smell more like myself, if that makes any sense to you.
I'm happier and have noticed a huge increase in confidence with the hormones. Might want SRS in the future, and I'm trying to get better at doing my hair and things. But the body is most important.
