If you're worried about safety, bringing your physical copies at all is generally unsafe, so just deal with it. Anything that seals should be fine, or any bag. You could also just keep the games in a pocket in the car.

Hmm, do you have by any chance a DS flashcard? You could play a shitload of DS games on your 3DS, and it's just one card. For the Vita, you could download any PSP or PS1 game and most of them will take you a long time to finish, like Disagea or Z.H.P.
