Why is it that I can't work out hard for more than about 20 minutes without needing to puke? Will it go away or do I have some sort of condition?

Do you work out after having a large meal?

seconding that question

Usually either on an empty stomach or something like oatmeal or an apple.

You should have a sensible meal 3-5 hours before you work out. Alternatively, lower the intensity until you build up a tolerance to the nausea.

What about an hour before?

Maybe motion sickness?

I'd suggest taking 25 - 50 mg of diphenhydramine shortly before exercise. It'll probably make you tired and it'll reduce your performance, but it is generally very effective for nausea and vomiting.

Too soon. You'll barf a lot.

Actually, see a doctor about something called a 5HT-3 antagonist. These drugs (ondasterone/Zofran comes to mind) are used to control nausea and vomiting in people getting chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. Unlike diphenhydramine, 5HT-3 antagonists probably won't hinder your performance or make you want to fall asleep on a treadmill. However, they may potentially be expensive and I don't know if your insurance would be willing to cover them for exercise-induced emesis.

>most likely nauseous from bad dietary habits and fat assery
>lets bandaid the problem and pile on drugs

Ask /fit/. Also, maybe you're working out too hard. What's your routine? What's your fitness level?

I'm pretty out of shape about 25% body fat. It's usually when I'm working with a personal trainer and maybe he pushes me too hard.
