I went on a date with a guy I really liked and it turns out he doesn't believe in marriage equality. He paid for dinner then I never returned his phone calls. Is there any way I can punish him?

It being 2016 literally has nothing to do with it. We were raised by generation x, who were products of conservative baby boomers. My grandma still hates black people and we live in the most liberal state in the US, literally has nothing to do with what year it is.

Such is the way of science. Sometimes it is wrong. There was a recent study from the University of Michigan recommending that "withholding sex" while in marriage by a male be considered rape. Only by a male. This is not an exaggeration. This "peer-reviewed" study was performed in a womens studies department and "peer-reviewed" by other womens studies departments. This information was then forwarded to the white house as part of their advising they receive on "women's issues".
Now, you probably agree with this, because you seem like the type that would rather follow whatever movement is popular on twitter, so I don't expect you to have your own thoughts on the matter, but take it from someone with much experience in academia, "peer-review", especially in the social sciences, doesn't mean jack shit.
