My fiance just got accepted to grad school on the other side of the country. I want to get a job and move out there, but how can I do it? Every job I've had has been in my hometown, with employers I heard of by word of mouth.

How do I look for a job in a place I've never been, where I don't know anyone or any of the businesses, where I can't walk in for an interview?

If it matters, I work in IT and currently make about $48K before taxes but cost of living is much higher where I want to move.

should be pretty easy if you work in it. Just start looking for employers in the area and sending resumes and stuff for when you get down there.
