Is it safe to be within a couple lbs of overweight BMI? I accidentally gained a bit of weight over the past year but my bf and I like the way it looks.

Bmi should be a reference, not an actual measure of healthiness. On the extreme end you have tons of huge athletes who wouldn't pass because of how much muscle they have.
Personally, I think women with a little extra weight look fine af. If you and your boyfriend like it and it's not a health issue then just roll with it.
Statistically speaking people in the overweight category are healthier than people in the healthy weight category. It's a shit system that doesn't take into account body composition which is vastly more important than the number on your scale.
I wouldn't worry about a few pounds, especially if you and your bf like you THICKER
BMI is a fuzzy measure in any event. Being on the borderline is not great, but isn't cause for much alarm.
body fat % (which BMI is a rough measure for) is what's unhealthy.
Flab is not a good thing, and it's always harder to LOSE weight than to prevent gaining it, so be careful.
