Is there I can do to help an abused coworker?

Her history seems to be extensive, starting with her family, and she has left a relationship after her boyfriend beat her (he's in jail) last month.

She had just recently talked to me about her job as manager and how everybody has treated her since she's the only female manager at our workplace, which has led to talking about a little of her past.

She isn't able to sleep unless someone is with her and she gets nightmares when she does manage to sleep. I'd like to help her with that.

I guess she felt comfortable enough to talk to me in private about it; I guess it's because she didn't think I would try to hit on her since there's a policy preventing managers and staff from having a relationship or she's been around me long enough to see I'm a nice person.

I hate seeing people I care about suffer.

Seems like she is spurring on an inappropriate relationship in the workplace divulging this sort of personal information to a subordinate. Go over her head and have her dropped a peg. You don't need her drama in your life.

You can't save her. Don't try to, you'll just fuck things up more. If she asks, and if it's a reasonable request, go ahead and render aid, but don't get involved otherwise. As a wise man once said: stay the hell away from things you know nothing about.
