Anyone heard of Kelly McGonigal here? She talks about willpower and such. Is there anything useful from her that you applied in your life?

I'm laughing. Why would any of them ever need to develop willpower if they'll always have guys pinning after them and telling them they're special/interesting? They literally don't need it.

I hauled myself out of depression by getting a firm grasp on cognitive behavioural theory.

Does this qt talk about that? It's great shit.

You don't need to be a man to study shit, she's from a top University so she could pull together a lot of data on this subject.

I don't know if she talks specifically about CBT. What part of it has really helped you?

I found Psychocybernetics useful. Never heard of this girl.

Whole shebang.
Basically, depression reinforces itself because negative thoughts cause negative emotion, which cause negative thoughts.

You have to make the concious effort to control your thoughts and interrupt the cycle. Really works, great shit.

So mindfulness, really? I've tried a version of it but it's obvious you can't monitor your thoughts constantly. The vast majority escape your conscious. Can you give an example of how it helped you?
