I'm a woman who was raised by a single father, without a mother in the picture. The only three guys I've ever tried to date considered this a huge red flag, and considered the fact that I'm very close to my dad to be a problem. Is this just bad luck, or is it a normal thing for guys to think that a woman without a mother figure is a problem?

They don't want to have to be your dad, and maybe they're detecting something that says that's what you want. Check your signals and make sure you don't want to fuck your dad. Unless you want to fuck your dad. Then you'll figure something out.

It's the men you're dating because my buds and I wouldn't care about that. Perhaps, it's more understandable that they think oh you had no mother figure so that means you can't do motherly things like cook, clean, care, etc. However, that's not something most guys would think about. Lack of a father figure for men and women is a red flag. Try seeing other men because 3 isn't enough to make the conclusion you're making or maybe there are other factors we don't know about.

I'd say it's just bad luck, or you've just happened to date really weird guys. My dad completely raised me too, and I haven't seen this problem as much. One guy has said shit like I only want to date or fuck my father, but I'm pretty sure he was just trying to rationalize that our relationship not working out was completely my fault and not his.
What have these guys actually said to you about it? They couldn't have all just used that as a reason and ran away, right?
