Is there a possible way to thin your shit when it's still inside?

I'm constipated to shit, and I feel the hugest shit inside me probably about as big as a football. I've tried laxative and all they do is make me want to poop, not thin out or soften the shit. I'm getting a lot of anxiety from this and it's making me afraid to try to poo in fear of it hurting like hell.

What do? I'm drinking as much fluids as I can stomach btw. Is it too late because the large shit is in my rectum already?
