Modern life is so fucking awful I totally empathise with him so much. I'm 26 and I'm such a fucking loser, I just want to leave everything behind myself though I've never told anyone this

Tell him to come live with you, or go live with him. In an immediate sense, the most important thing is he shouldn't be alone, and if you're the one he chose to tell, the ball's in your court. Once you've got him somewhere you can keep an eye on him, you can start exploring options for therapy and/or medication.
Not to say that it's your responsibility if he does it someday, ultimately it's his choice. You just do everything you can and hope for the best

I'm not as suicidal as I once was but thinking about how my family would take my suicide is my biggest influence stopping me from doing so. I saw a picture of me and my two sisters when we were little kids about an hour ago on Facebook and started crying. I just can't do it knowing how much it would hurt them.

Being supportive is good, and apparently you are, but you can't support someone so much they stop being mentally ill.

Honestly. Depression never ends. The black dog sometimes just goes to sleep in the corner.
You need to make sure he does life style changes. The gym. A new job. A new sleep cycle. Anything new.
