hey! soon to be 20 guy from Latvia, studying history here, tired of this place, want something new. Me and my gf planning to go abroad, to study somewhere in Europe. I want decent education for free and a shitty job to pay rent and get some food. Give me some advice on that.
Where to go? Where to live? Cheapest countries for people like us? and what are native people attitudes on migrants like us?
Thanks in advance!
>>
any advice?
>>
guys? i feel like this is a decent advice thread and might lead to a nice conversation, if not tell me and ill let this thread die.

You need to look at the scholarships and opportunities offered and then decide. No one is going to hand out a free education for you.

Go to where unemployment is low (see map). Granted, those places aren't much different than Latvia.

Personally, I would go to the Netherlands and live by the North Sea. Or Copenhagen.

Scandinavia is pretty much ruled out cause the countries are damn expensive and you can't land a job without speaking the language. (I have lived in 2 Nordic countries, but I'm a citizen and I speak 2 Scandinavian languages so I know what I'm talking about.) Also, life as a slav immigrant may not be easy. I mean no one would discriminate you, but slavs are usually very different by their personality so it would be tough to make friends, I think.

Maybe Estonia? But seriously it's hard to get a job if you can only speak English and you got no education. I'd suggest you to take your degree in your own country and go from there. Maybe change your major, that ain't gonna employ you

ive heard that denmark offers free educatio for everyone thats not complete idiot. so, for example im going to denmark. how to start looking for a place to stay? how to look for a job in a country ive never been to and is it even possible?
>>
>>16651832
>cheap
>>
>>16651839
Estonia isn't cheap either.
>>
>>16651842
Denmark is almost as expensive as Norway. Meaning expensive as fuck. And you can't get a job without a degree and/or knowing the language. It's the truth. We don't have such low tier jobs in Scandinavia really, pretty much everything requires a degree of some kind.
>>
>>16651839
yes, scandinavia is not an option. UK would solve the language problem i guess. And im not a slav, im Balt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latvians
>>
>>16651851
Well we consider Estonia cheap, so if Estonia is expensive, Scandinavia is like what Monaco is for us then. Rents are some 3-4 times lower in Estonia than in Sweden. And Sweden is one of the cheapest Nordic countries.
>>
>>16651862
The education is nowhere free in the UK though.
>>
>>16651862
Protip: No one gives a shit. To them you're an Eastern European immigrant so you might as well be Russian.
>>
>>16651853

But under the Schengen Agreement you can go anywhere in the blue on this map. So look online for places that might be hiring. Doubtless it will be hard dirty work at first, but that's how immigration works.

>>16651853
Yep, no janitors in Denmark. All done by degreed robots.
>>
>>16651886
You won't be able to live working part-time as a janitor.

UK is full of immigrants already. Especially those unskilled ones. So honestly, being realistic here, your plan isn't good. Just get an education in your country and you'll have a variety of different options then. It'll take time, but make things easier. Trust me. Living in some rotten cold shithole in UK among chavs and immigrants and your gf getting harassed on daily basis hardly is worth it. And you'd be living in poverty. UK is a class society after all and it's hard being poor in UK.

Dutch (Nederlands, Hollandi keel) is very similar to English and you seem to know English pretty well. Plus a lot of people in the Netherlands speak English.

You can always consider Germany. In Eastern Germany, you can get the same landscape and post-Soviet experience that you know from home.
