Where do I go to practice socializing and develop my social skills? At home? and how?

To the people who had anxiety before ; what "changes" do I need to make?
>>
jobs?

Yeah how can I get a job if I'm anxious?
How can I not be anxious if I don't have a job?
It's meat and pudding

Find interest groups and clubs for people interested in the same things you are. This ensures that you have something in common with the first people you talk to, which makes for a good set of training wheels.

smoking and having jobs where I'm not working with other people much is all that has ever helped me.

>anxiety

Yes it's a cunt. But in my experience nothing helps more than knowing you're making steps towards improving it. Maybe before applying for a job, do some voluntary work or work experience temporarily to get a feel for being around people all day? How bad is your anxiety, can you interact with people, or are you a shut-in?
>>

yeah go fuck yourself. go on /b/ or something

>>16555386
what kind of job do you have? did you have anxiety when you were in college?
>>
Learn to play Magic the Gathering. That's what I did. Your local game store will have a friendly tournys every Friday. You can practice socialization while having the saftey net of a common goal (playing the game)

Whenever i socialize with others it like takes everything i got and i'm very stressed out. i'll try what you said what kinds of voluntary work are out there?
>>
>>16555399

I know that feel, I still get awkward around certain groups of people but I manage to go out and have a good time just through persistent contact and picking up the appropriate mannerisms, after a short while I was really able to relax and engage in normie banter without too much self-consciousness. Spontaneity helps. As for volunteer work, I tend to go to a countryside park every now and then, just chopping wood and shit with a bunch of pretty chilled out guys, definitely helps on a social immersion level.

dude i try to not be spontaneous because most of the time i'll end up looking like an idiot and worse, hated
>>
>>16555423

Says who? Take it from someone who does connect with people now despite having crippling anxiety. So long as you're not a complete sperg it will make you seem more relaxed and confident.
>>
>>16555427
Me, man whenever i think to say something spontaneously, 90 percent of the time it comes off as offensive to people or annoying and i hate myself afterwards for it
>>
>>16555440

>Comes across as offensive

Find better mates with a sense of humour. Unless you're literally saying that shagging 3 year olds is enjoyable, or something along those lines.

>Hate myself for it

Fucking why? If it's a clear mistake then you learn from it. You've said yourself that you're looking for advice/help so there's no shame in learning the hard way. That is why immersing yourself repeatedly is the best way to learn the etiquette of socialising. I understand it's hard with anxiety, but if the motivation is there then it shouldn't be a problem.
>>

>shagging 3 year olds is enjoyable,
no lol not like that

>Fucking why?
i tend to do it again because i'm panicking if i don't say something i'll fuck things up more. it's really irrational. i think you won't take me as seriously now?
>>
>>16555491

>won't take me as seriously now

You're doing it again lad! Relax. You'll get there if you follow every I wrote. Your priority should be to feel calm and collected rather than aim to be a social guru. The social skills will only come once you're fully at ease in your environment.
