I'm feeling really anxious and emotionally overwhelmed. I think crying might help but I'm not sure how to cry.
That happens.
That happens.
this is normal. you may find it helpful to talk to someone who is a good listener and whom you trust. otherwise, journaling or writing out your thoughts and feelings can be helpful as well.
if you continue to feel badly or anxious and it starts feeling like it's getting in the way of your life or you can't stand it, please seek behavioral health services. good luck.

I usually cut myself or self harm when I feel overwhelmed, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks I've been in therapy before and learned tools such as you described to deal with anxiety and depression but I feel like I need a release.

are you still taking medication? you may need a higher dose. are you still in therapy? you may benefit from depth therapy.

I was never prescribed anything and am no longer in therapy. I used to have panic attacks but haven't had one since. Last time I felt like this I was going through a rough break up, but I don't really have any problems right now. But I feel like if I cry I'll feel relief. I haven't really cried for years, not even during the break up.

when it's particularly bad it can be hard to cry.
medication can be helpful. they call them antidepressants but what they really do is they give your brain wiggle room to make new connections and break old ones. try a course of long term medication combined with therapy. probably best strategy here. your choice of course. good luck.
