That latest pic set by Axel Ordered is actually very good fit the price, but it does demonstrate something that has always saddened. The level of art in our community is just pathetically low, and anytime an artist from another fetish comes along with even a passing interest they usually blow all of our other artist out of the water. You can see this in the other threads on this board where the level of art is just way beyond ours.
Why is this? This is NOT a small or super-niche fetish by any means.

I don't know if part of it is inherently money or not. Some post their stuff online for free without payment or not expecting any payment, so any quality that would come from it may not matter to them and, by extension, the viewers that won't mention any bad about a picture. Generally with money as an incentive, or in some cases a way to sustain oneself, the quality of an image has a higher chance of being better. This is all case-by-case and not meant to be a blanket statement since I know there are exceptions to both sides.
Speaking from experience, I can't really find any critique even when I ask for some. People are too nice or quiet, so I'm on my own to understand everything. I don't make it an excuse because I recognize all of my faults, but I assume the silence spreads across the fetish towards other art and there's not as loud a scene for improved art as there should be. Ultimately, I can only be harder on myself for what I do, or will do since I haven't done much in a long while. The inadequacy is not a good feeling and I want to break out of that to something competent. Of course, I draw because I want to and enjoy it, but there's no reason for me not to be good at it too.

If you want real critique you need to seek real critique from other artists that know what they're doing. Waiting around for critique from commenters on DA is futile. People can and will argue that non-artists are capable of providing valuable critique, but in the end if an individual cannot make the correction themselves to show you where you've messed up they're just pointing out a flaw and not providing you the tools to identify the flaw and learn why it's there and how to avoid it in the future.
The best critique I received was from a couple artists on Cushypen. They broke down my work and redlined what needed to be fixed. They also drew alternate angles on what I had drawn. No one on DA is capable of that.

Since some anon expressed interest in it, here's some stuff from Vokatron. I'm putting it on mega because it's not /aco/ approved and all that. I personally think they're a pretty damn good artist, and they're much cheaper than most of the other available options. They only charge $20 for an image and $35 for a comic page, and it costs $5 more on your total order to get everything in color (last I checked). They're also down with pretty much anything you can imagine, minus gore.
Note that I didn't commission this stuff. Some other guy did, and that got passed along a chain of "a friend of a friend" until it got to me, thus some of it isn't entirely related to this thread. I'm considering commissioning Vokatron in a while though, since I much prefer their style to the more common commission options here (34qucker, etc).
