I have been palling on starting a web comic series of my own for quite some time now which isn't really porn. Technically some lewd stuff could fit in at some points though.
Got story and characters and everything.

I mostly agree with your statement as far as my own preference goes. I don't see why sexual content has to be seperated from non sexual content with a barbed wire fence.
There are however a few issues with doing this kind of approach. Putting the nswf label on your comic already kinda limits your viewership. The question is if it is worth it there when you got about 2 occurences in a ~1200 page story.
In my mind you would have to ramp it up some for it to make sense.
This is why i am tending towards the second series option at the moment.
Alternatively you could also just do the comic as normal and leave out the sex scenes at first.
Just so on the offchance you get somewhat popular you can bring them in later and use them as bait to gauge patreon supporters for money.

If you have concerns you can always start off slow. Tease and hint at sex. So long as the reader knows that it's porn they will stick around for a bit.
Just don't do what Demon Dregs is doing. It's a porn comic that's 90% not porn, especially these last couple chapters. And the art is so good, too.

How far apart is too far apart for new pages? I currently work full time and have a life outside pornographic art, so I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to dedicate enough time toward such a thing to update all the time. Would twice monthly be too sparse for something formatted like a print comic?
I've got two ideas in mind, and I'm not sure which I'd rather pursue. Either way, the timing thing worries me.

It's hard to get away with that (especially in print comics where so fucking little happens per page and it's really meant to be enjoyed in 20-page chunks) but if you can really genuinely pull people in, and give them a little actual progression each page (not always easy. sometimes you have to push yourself harder during the necessary-but-less-engaging updates to crank them out) then you can do it. I cite Camp Sherwood. 100 pages over the course of.. what, 3 years? and people are still checking like mad for updates when they arrive, sparsely. As for paypal alternatives, there are some. Nowhere near as big but the reason mostly because people are trusting their money and potentially credit card and bank info. Paypal is big and has plenty of perks to back them up.

Actually there is a strong point for this, when I commission artist I always figure their strong points. Knowing the strong points shows you where they're gonna put emphasis on. For example: see picture. Since every character is based off a real person in epeen I wanted him to be able to capture them in the right way but not 100% realistic.

I started working on a comic as a new years resolution. I made a friend through Tumblr whom I knew was a writer and had similar interests. After some brainstorming she quickly penned a story. We're making a Jet Set Radio Future fanfic.

I'm planning on making two big, long webcomic story series, one clean for the most part with light nudity and some sexual themes vital pertaining to the story, the other, with smut in it, sometimes quite common, with nudity, and other reoccurring fetishes but mainly, a story with smut in it.

Honestly not too much, I am working on pages atm, one comic is ready to begin updating with 10 pages pre-planned ahead and I will pre-plan always 10 pages ahead to keep ahead of the game, with about 3/4 of the story written. The second is in it's beginning pre-plan phase. I am worried about posting them if they are not good nuff' or people won't like the first, since the first uses a lot of symbolism and more of a classical styled story. The secondary is more of an attempt at escapism writing. I've shown the first to people I know and they like it a lot, I asked them to view it critically, and they've helped me iron some details out.
But, for the first at least, I am in the beginning phase of posting it, all I need to do now is make/design the website and begin polishing up the first 3 pages with 7 already outlined, thumbed out.

Yes, it's JJ and yes it's old but still worth a read. Webcomics should be a labor of love because expecting money is foolish. If you get into this to make money, you might get disappointed and quit. If you're passionate, not making money won't deter you and you just might "make it." Not sure if you can be the next JJ but realize he's been doing that comic of his for a decade and has suffered greatly because of it.
