As far as I understand it, the Cho stuff accounts for the vast majority of the writing. The mod didn't have a writer forever after UE left, and UE has been the only writer with a proven track record. There's just no way to know what state the mod is actually in.

This is a BETA release. The game was tested very thoroughly and should contain very few bugs. This is a BETA release for my patrons only but the public release will follow shortly, as soon as you guys done resting the game.

I'm not going to qualify the completion of work in terms of percentage. Cho is getting closer to the final stretch for scripting. What remains is coding and implementation(which can be difficult).
As for Trainerfan, if memory serves, his demo was intended to be a work in progress. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever read, and keep in mind we're talking about porn. Brevity is preferable to the writers who think their smut is the next Lord of the Rings and focus on multiple plotlines, drama, and "world building".
So how long before we get 2.02 with the last of the bugs ironed out? I'm pretty busy this week so I'm thinking I might just wait until then.

On his previous games, you could enable the console. You can probably do that here too.
If you enable the console you can view and set the whoring and "mad" levels.
To enable the console edit the file {Witch Trainer Installation Folder}\Renpy\Common\00Console.rpy
Change line ~97 from
config.console = False
to
config.console = True
Then in the game (you will need to open the game again), press Shift-O to open the console.

Other than the design being different, you shouldn't have much problems. I only had small problems with it, such as needing a third party sidebar app so I can use the old gadgets, and that one uses a bit more resources. And they keep developing the calculator backwards (but I believe you should be able to copy over the exe of the old one).
I miss Aero though, especially those nice mouse effects on the taskbar.

When it's time for an upgrade, I'll probably get Windows 10, but I don't see the point in doing it early.
There's always going to be a bunch of people who are either desperate to be up to date, or whose hardware upgrade coincides with Windows 10's launch.
Let those people figure out if there's any problems with the system. Let them figure out how to fix or go around those problems.
That way when I eventually have to upgrade, I'll have less of a headache doing it myself. (I mean seriously, if I had meant the "don't fix it" the way you imply, I'd never have left XP, a lot of software today could never be made on a 32 bit system like that)
