Honestly, the fact that lands are consistently the major price barrier to competitive play--in more or less all formats--is my least favorite thing about competitive Magic. I wouldn't mind having to dump the same amount of money into a deck as long as it were going to the interesting cards that actually do things.
Which is actually a pretty dumb way to feel, since lands can be played in a wider variety of decks, and therefore represent an investment in multiple potential decks, rather than this deck in particular...but it still feels that way. They're lands, for Christ's sake!

The problem is really that they don't design OR test for Modern. They just curate it via bans.
Some of what's going on can be tracked by how they've been using the word "archetype" lately. They aren't talking about aggro, combo, and control any more, but what a deck does and how it wins.
As they're considering the game now, every deck should run some removal, some value creatures, and a few pieces of utility. Some amount of gaining advantage by increments is desired, but they also want both sides to be fielding impressive threats.
But, while they basically want every deck to be somewhere on the midrange spectrum, they aren't designing cards to fill that need. What's the URW equivalent to Siege Rhino? Mantis Rider. While hardly a bad card, it doesn't provide advantage in the same way.

Dark Banishing isn't actually a power level concern, exactly. They've moved away from putting "can't be regenerated" on all removal because it...kind of made regeneration pointless. If all removal hoses regeneration, why does regeneration exist in the first place?
Plus, nowadays, they're slowly phasing out regeneration ANYWAY (because it's a clusterfuck of an ability, like protection), so putting regeneration hosing on removal is more or less wasted text.
While I don't agree with giving Murder the axe and shutting Counterspell out in the cold, I'll at least give them that they have some logic behind DB falling out of favor.

I don't know if anyone has ever said this to you, but one of the things I love about your art is the way you draw women. A decent amount of porn art shows women as embarrassed, nervous, or uncertain--even when the piece isn't depicting anything with dubious consent. Embarrassment is most common in that kind of circumstance, but that still carries with it a certain sense of shame.
Your women, though, are almost always confident and self-assured, and never ashamed of their bodies. They're always in control of their bodies and posed realistically. Your Narset sketch is a great example--she's posed confidently, but not necessarily provocatively. She isn't reduced to just her sexuality--a decent amount of her character comes through, in addition to the fact that she is sexy.
Which is kind of great. You draw women who happen to be sexy, as opposed to sex fantasies that happen to be women. None of the "virgin/slut" dichotomy.
I'm half asleep and probably rambling at this point, so, to summarize: Your stuff is good, and I like it.

The problem with MtG is, well, the characters aren't that interesting (for me at least). Aside from the few main ones, we barely have any material to work with. Let's say Vraska - cool design and all, but what makes her different from just a random monstergirl medusa/gorgon? We know so little about her, mostly in the form of "she exists", that she's simply indifferent to others. Compared to cartoon/anime/etc characters, who have clear defining traits, character and other things that grabs our thoughts, mtg charas look dull and uninteresting.
Personally, I might be temted to draw some Elesh/Sheoldred or so, but all the other human/humanoid characters are too unisnpiring and boring for me to bother. I assume that's why there's so little of porn of such a great game - the content is godtier, yet the characters are merely "avatar icons". Such combination makes u want to draw "epic" fanart, not porn.

She has a very strong sense of justice in the form of revenge--eye for an eye style. She hunted down those who had been abusing their power and made them pay.
She does her homework. Not only did she figure out that Jace was a planeswalker, she knew what planes he would recognize the names of, and uncovered the fact that he knew Garruk.
When Jace was appointed as the Living Guildpact, she had several reactions. On the one hand, he would likely abuse his power like so many others had. Moreover, why a stranger to the world? Ravnica should be ruled by a Ravnican. And why shouldn't she take advantage of this to gain more power for herself? The setup was so wrong that it needed to be disrupted, and, well, if she stood to gain from doing so--or did so in a way that caused her to gain--so much the better.
If you actually read into the lore, there's actually a pretty decent amount of fleshing out that goes on. Not enough, I'll grant you, and one of the main reasons that I'm disappointed in the new ADVENTURES OF THE GATEWATCH model is that it severely lessens the likelihood of stories that focus more prominently on newer and less well-established characters, but it's not like they just completely ignore them, either.
(Besides, if you aren't shipping Vraska X Ashiok as soon as someone points out that she can't accidentally turn Ashiok to stone, you have no heart.)

Funny thing is, all of that info comes from story articles. And those story articles are basically shitwriting. I don't read them, and many other people don't. I remenber there used to be those "planeswalker's guide to ..." articles, which were informative, interesting and such, but nowadays their articles are nothing like that. All that "fleshed out flavor" you talk is simply wasted on me (and many many others) simply because wizards chose a shitty way to tell the story.
