Yeah, willing, casual, and equal is the way to go. I've thought of or seen numerous scenarios that can tap into that power dynamic - nightclubs with wristbands for predators and preys where people go to eat or be eaten by a fellow stranger, or old friends meeting up out of the blue and one offering themselves as food to the other. The sort of everyday aspect that a minority of vore artists can bring out, where normal situations can lead to a person being eaten, are easily the most erotic.
It's much harder to connect with the vore situation if it's set in some high fantasy world, or if the characters are eating each other unwillingly with no context supplied. That seems to supply a sort of erotic suspension of disbelief where the viewer can vaguely believe that they could walk out the door and eat or be eaten themselves.

I don't think it has nearly as much to do with sub/dom for me as it does just wanting to be completely enveloped in a wall of flesh. My guess is it stems from not only being a late bloomer in a household where porn was stigmatized to the point of abuse, but also from being socially inept all throughout grade school and most of my working career, where pussy was seen as something I would probably never get in life. Hey, does anybody know of this one vore story, it had chapters, and the main character was a girl somewhere between 6 and 18 who was like princess of some magic castle or whatever, so every chapter was her venturing into the Monster Forest, and something catching her and eating her. every morning she'd respawn in her bed with full memory due to Teh Magicks.
The only other detail I can remember is in one chapter (3?), she's saved by a monster from a centaur, but it's getting late out, so she knows she can't make it back to the castle without getting caught and eaten anyways so she has the friendly centaur eat her, much to its confusion.
