Purple's my preferred color too, but for some reason it's hard to find. abdlfactory is another good place, and they've got a onesie that comes in purple. Apart from that, etsy and ebay are both worth checking out for things like this.
One thing that might help you decide is that the cuddlz onesies you're looking at are both fleece, while the baby-pants onesies are all cotton. I prefer fleece because it's cozier, but you might like cotton better if you live in a warm climate. The waddle onesie is all around great, and it works a lot better than you'd expect. I wouldn't recommend it as your first onesie, though.
If you're interested in footie pajamas, then amazon is a pretty good place. I got one from there just yesterday, and after sleeping in it for the first time, I couldn't recommend it enough. It's super warm, super cuddly, and feels so nice to wear. The only problem is that it wont hold your diaper up like a onesie will, but that can be helped with plastic pants.

It depends on your situation. The biggest factors are whether you have roommates and how many, and how thorough your room inspections are.
If you're in one of those barracks where your roommates share a common area/bathroom but have individual rooms, you're pretty much free.
