For anyone new, I'm doing summaries of the the latest volume of Vanadis, I already did the first three chapters. For the previous chapters' summaries see:

https://archive.moe/a/thread/124063626/#124067087

I also did the third chapter last night but I'll repost since there was some minor details I wanted to correct

Chapter 3
Sachstein is a country composed mostly of mountains and forests. In the past, a band of villages and towns united under one person would be considered a country. Once you go past a mountain there would be another small country there. Like this Sachstein used to be full of these small countries. Because they each considered themselves a king, they each had fierce individuality. And the person who was uniting all these troublesome kings was named Augustus Benedict von Rothschild Sachstein. This year he is 42 years old, and like the sides of a cliff he had a very severe and stony face. Even when he got married to his queen, even when he had his first child, augustus did not once smile. While holding their newly firstborn baby, his wife asked him if he was displeased. He answered there was no way he could be unhappy, but his face remains emotionless.
Two years ago, there was a certain rumor that Augustus had smiled. It was when he found out the Brune civil war had ended, and that Duke Thenardier and King Faron had died.
>>
>>124148224

For Augustus who wanted to conquer Brune, the existence of Thenardier and Faron, in addition to the Knight Roland were eyesores. He had tried many times to attack Brune but each time Roland would repel them from the western borders. If Augustus tried to invade through a means other than military force, Thenardier and Faron would stop him. Even though Thenardier was a man who planned to usurp his own king, he was also a man who extremely passionately defended the lands he considered his own territory. Faron knew this and worked together with him to stop Augustus. Augustus tried to separate Faron and Roland but that also failed. Roland's faith in Faron, and also Faron's trust in Roland was completely unshakable.
These three powerful enemies for Augustus had disappeared from the earth. He couldn't help but be overjoyed. But he didn't immediately march towards Brune. Faron died from sickness and Roland has been assassinated, however Thenardier was defeated on the battlefield. In other words, the person who defeated Thenardier is in Brune right now. So Augustus send spies to learn about Tigre and Regin.
And now the time has finally come to move. Amongst the three generals Augustus trusts, he calls two of them. They were Leonhart von Schmitt and Hans von Klugel. He orders the two of them to invade Alsace.

Around one or two days north of Nemetacum was an piece of land called Puranvil. Though there was only one hill there, it was a very big one. On top of this hill was the 20,000 sachstein troops under the command of the general Hans von Klugel. The 20,000 troops were pretty much all infantry. The only people on horses were Klugel, his adjutant, generals and scouts.
Currently 31 years old, Klugel was born a commoner. He comments that everything is proceeding well. In his hands was two dices. He had received them when he was 15. All of sudden, he rolls the dice on the ground. The numbers on the dice was 2 and 4. In all the important moments of his life Klugel had always rolled these dices. When the numbers came up odd, it meant he was going to have an easy time. however when it came up even it meant he was going to have a tough time. Of course, the results of these dices weren't absolute, there have been times that they were wrong. Klugel's forces has been camped on this hill for over ten days. There has only been one fight and it was their victory. Brune is not in the position to just let them be. Expecting that the second battle will be coming soon, Klugel orders more scouts to scout the surrounding. Around this time, the army led by Tigre was about two days away.
>>
>>124148358

When Tigre met up with the forces led by Shaie of the Lutece Knights and the Viscount Bluleck, it was apparent what had happened to them. Everyone was covered in injuries and their armors were damaged. It was a defeat. Tigre meets and greets Shaie and Bluleck. Tigre notes Shaie was the person as he remembered two years ago, kind and polite. However Bluleck was very hostile, especially towards Tigre and Ellen/Zchted.
Together with Marthus, Ellen and Lim, Shaie starts explaining what had happened.
>>
>>124148415

Shaie explains that to southeast of here in a days march was an area called Puranvil. Camped onto top of the hill there was the Sachstein forces. Shaie explains that Sachstein had set up the hill with a defensive perimeter. When they captured a prisoner they told them it was a hill fort and it was called the Galefort.
It was one day ago that Shaie and Bluleck's forces clashed with Sachstein, however it was eight days ago that they faced off each other. Shaie's Lutece Knights numbered 4000 cavalry and Bluleck's forces numbered 6000 cavalry. Shaie and Bluleck joined up headed south towards Nemetacum which was when they discovered the 20000 Sachstein army camped on top of Puranvil. Though Shaie and Bluleck were angry at the enemy, being that they were foreign invaders, they knew they were outnumbered 1:2, so they set up camp 500 meters away from the enemy while waiting for reinforcements. Sachstein, realizing they were waiting for reinforcements, started provoking them with crossbows and catapults. They would attack and retreat when Brune looked like they wanted to counter attack. When they weren't attacking with weapons Sachstein attacked them with words. They taunted the Lutece Knights, threw vulgar words about Queen Regin, and the thing that made Shaie the angriest were their taunts about Roland. But Shaie did not give in to their bait. They endured for eight days.
It was then the Sachstein army marched out of their hill. The Sachstein soldiers had a short sword at their waist, and held a spear and a round shield. There were also soldiers who didn't have a spear and shield, those soldiers instead carried a crossbow. About 10,000 soldiers came out of the hill. Once they were about 300 meters away from the Gelfort, Shaie and Bluleck's forces started moving. They were all cavalry and the enemy were all infantry and the area around them was a wide open plain. They will now pay back the disgrace they suffered the past eight days.
>>
>>124148515

With their morales high, they charged at the enemy. It doesn't need to be said about the superiority of cavalry against infantry. However Sachstein didn't just take it, they also fought back. When a man was trampled down, he would reach for his short sword and cut the horse's leg. The rider would fall down and immediately get stabbed by three spears. The crossbows also had a devastating effect. Sachstein was tough. No matter how many fell down, their formation never collapsed. But even still, the Brune army slowly pushed them back.
It was then that Shaie realized they were too close to the Galefort. They would charge, and Sachstein would fall back. That is natural. But what was unnatural was how the enemy would never rout, and in time they had already retreated backwards several hundred meters. When Shaie started ordering a retreat, Sachstein fiercely counter attacked back. If 10,000 sachstein troops had came out of the hill, then that had meant 10,000 remained on it. In an instant, using fences and even the ground itself, the hill had literally become a fort, and they were prisoners in it. It was a disaster, troops on top of the fort would rain down on them with arrows and stones. In the end, only 7000 was able to escape. Fortunately both Shaie and Bluleck lived.
It was an unbelievable story to Tigre. This meant the enemy commander was able to use such a big hill to turn it into a fort. Tigre thanks them for the valuable information. Afterwards, They merge their forces together. Of the 7000, about 5000 was still able to fight. Together they now have 10000 men. Shaie and Bluleck also agreed to submit themselves to Tigre's command.
The meeting adjoined and Ellen jokes that 10,000 is still better than 5000. Two years ago during the civil war, Tigre struggled to secure food and fuel for his army. Presently, they can buy food and fuel from neighboring villages and towns and Tigre is thankful they don't have to worry about that stuff this time.
>>
>>124148597

Ellen talks to Tigre telling him that they need to name their army, a name that would inspire fear to their enemies and courage to their allies. Tigre knew they couldn't just call it Silver Meteor again, Silver Meteor could cause unpleasant memories for some of soldiers in his army. Later that night during dinner, Tigre gathered Ellen, Lim, Marthus, Rurick, Casper and Titta to his tent. He wanted to discuss a name of their army. After a couple of ideas, Titta suggested the name Lumiere Army. Titta explains the name was inspired from Regin who gave the title of Lumiere to Tigre two years ago. Though it was only a short period of time, Titta was Regin's personal and sole attendant. During that time they had formed a close bond. To honor that bond Tigre agreed to Titta's suggestion. Ellen comments that Lumiere was an old and prestigious title in Brune and Tigre nods. Their army will now be called the Lumiere Army.
>>
>>124148717

The next day, the Lumiere Army stops 500 meters away from the hill Sachstein is on. Around the hill is just plains where there is no way the enemy could set up any tricks. Tigre wanted to see for himself what this Galefort exactly was and decided to ride out by himself to take a closer look. Ellen suggested that she ride with him to protect him from arrows with her sword but Tigre refused. Tigre did not want to show the enemy their secrets.
350 meters away, Tigre stops. Tigre notes that the ground had been worked, and what appears to be only fence was actually reinforced twice and even three times. There is also signs that other things were being camouflaged. Satsified and convinced that they were facing against something that can be considered a fort, Tigre rode back. The enemy did not attack him, presumably because he was by himself.
Once he returned, they began their meeting. Tigre shares his findings and Marthus suggests they may have to think about siege tactics. Tigre thought of two ways they could siege them. One was to encircle the fort with a large army and wait it out. The other was to attack them with siege weapons. However they were half the forces of the enemy. In addition they had no siege weapon and it would take time to build them.
However they couldn't just do nothing. The southern sachstein army had already beaten the brune army once. News of it is sure to reach the capital Nice and the western sachstein army. It would effect the morale of the entire war. Marthus suggests that the they move to the south of the enemy fort, explaining that although they couldn't completely cut off the supplies from the port town and Nemetacum, they could delay them. Tigre agrees and the Lumiere starts marching to the south of the fort where there is a river. They would station themselves between Galefort and the river.
>>
>>124148871

While Lumiere was moving, Hans von Klugel was looking at the map. Hans von Klugel was not his birthname. Born a commoner, he was simply Hans. In Sachstein, only people ranked knights and above had a family name. In addition, the name von was only given to landowners and nobles.
When Hans was 15 his father's friends gave him two dices as a present for always hanging out with them. One day the aristocrat who owned the small village Hans lived in ordered its 15 men to handle the bandit problem nearby. It was then Han's hidden talent awoke. He envisioned a plan using the surrounding field's fences and land to create a defensive area to fight against the bandit. The militia commander hearing of this plan, reported it to the aristocrat who became greatly interested in Hans and approved the plan. It succeeded, and then Hans was able to pinpoint the weaknesses in the defenses of the bandit's camp and the bandits were subjugated. From then on Hans was employed by the aristocrat. Under him Hans learned about war and tactics and quickly obtained the title of knight along with his last name Klugel. After a few years of fighting against Brune and Asvarre, his achievements got admitted and he became a noble along with the name of von.
Klugel had a dream. He wanted to make a castle fort that could repel any enemy. This Galefort was a part of his dream. With a normal hill, Klugel was able to turn it into a fort with defensive powers that the enemy didn't expect. Once they repel the enemy, all they have to do was attack back and clean up.
It was then Klugel received a report that the enemy was on the move. The time for dreaming had ended, he must return back to being a commander of an army.
>>
>>124149126

Listening to the report, Klugel starts thinking. The problem is the 2000 zchted forces. Its appearance could only mean Tigre was here. Sachstein had plenty of reason to invade. One of them was Tigre. He was the hero who defeated Thenardier and had to stay in Zchted for three years as guest general. Only one year had pass. Even if Brune told Zchted that they were under attack, the response was way too fast.
Klugel stands up and looks towards the south to the Lumiere army. Sachstein had never fought Zchted fought before. If Klugel doesn't do anything, Lumiere will take away their supplies. Klugel sends out orders for 10,000 troops to sortie, 5000 will be under his command while the other 5000 remains on standby inside the fort.

Hearing the reports of enemy movement, Tigre confirms their formation. In the center with Tigre and Marthus was 4000 troops. On the right wing was ellen and Lim with 2000 zchted troops. On the left wing was Shaie and Bluleck with 3000 troops. Remaining as reserves were 1000 troops.
The Sachstein quickly moves out of the fort and set up formation. They numbered 10,000, with 4000 at center and 3000 at their wings. Tigre notes that it is a formation inviting them to charge. The enemy is all infantry and they are all cavalry. Brune knight forces specializes in spears and open plains such as these favors their ability to charge. Slowly both armies march forward.
In the Lumiere army, only the Zchted troops are carrying bows. The Brune forces are carrying long shields, they plan to just weather the enemy's ranged assault. As for Sachstein, about 5000 to 6000 of their forces are carrying a crossbow.

The movements of Lumiere suddenly changed. Raising their shields, the center and left wing rides forward while the right wing stops. In an instant the air is filled with thousands of bolts. They fly with incredible speed they towards Lumiere. Imagine the sound of a huge wave crashing into a cliff. Even at short range, Sachstein keeps firing their crossbows at their shields. With the enemy engaged, ellen orders her forces to advance. Though the enemy also aims their crossbow at them, with the wind barriers created by her dragon tool the damage was lessen. 150 meters away from the enemy, ellen orders them to halt and to start shooting.
After a third wave of arrows, Ellen comments that the battle is proceeding normally. But Ellen and Lim couldn't help but feel unease. Behind the enemy loomed the Gelfort that looked as if it was inviting them all in. Ellen also had another worry. Concentrating on his longsword, she breathes a sigh of relief. There is no demon nearby. Demons can appear as humans and in addition they can appear out of nowhere. Until a demon appears, they should not be using their dragon skills unless they have to. Although in ellen's case, she has zero intentions of using her dragon skills against humans. Roland was an exception.
Lim calls out to ellen. Regaining her senses, Ellen orders her troops to put away their bow and to draw out their swords. It is time to charge.
The left and center of Lumiere had already charged. Yet the enemy is still fighting hard. When they fall down, they don't just simply fall. As they're falling they would pull a brune soldier by their legs and when the soldier fell he would be stabbed by multiple spears. Occasionally the enemy would retreat a little. By the time Tigre noticed this, they had already moved two hundred meters north from where they started fighting. The presence of Gelfort loams largely in front of them.
Tigre starts calling an order for retreat but it was not so simple.
>>
This LN honestly seems very interesting, harem hijinks aside.
But I'm not motivated enough to start reading from volume 1 chapter 1.
>>
>>124149839

For the Brune soldiers they had a reason for fighting the foreign invaders in front of them. On the left wing were Shaie and Bluleck who had revenge on their mind. In addition Sachstein did not forget to counterattack while retreating. They would shoot their crossbows and throw stones at them, inciting counterattacks. Clinching the black bow, Tigre tells Marthus he will leave the command to him. Marthus warns him to not reveal that he can shoot and aim at three hundred meters. Tigre rides ahead and takes aim. With three arrows he kills three enemy commanders commanding in the enemy center. What is frightening about this accuracy is in this situation even with a little mistake Tigre would've hit his own men. The enemy movement starts becoming disorderly.
Seeing this Tigre immediately shouts for a retreat. In response to this a large number of bolts starts flying pass Tigre. If Tigre was just 3 inches further to his left, he would've suffered a grave injury. This was proof that even under this situation the enemy soldiers could respond correctly. The center Lumiere immediately starts pulling back. Seeing this the left wing also pulls back. When Tigre returns to Marthus, they recieve a new report that 5000 sachstein troops is coming from the right. Tigre gasps, this means their ring wing which command by Ellen is in danger.

my problem is how much the writer make it sound Zchted is some monster county with 7 girls. It just makes you wonder how the fuck is Zchted not kicking asses left and right?

That's because the harem hijinks are kept to a minimum and actually make sense to the plot.

Ellen explains it awhile ago, there was only two types of Zchted kings and both types mismanaged the usage of the vanadis.

Meanwhile on the right wing, Ellen had left command to Lim while she went to the front to fight. She had already defeated about 40 enemies but there was not a drop of sweat or blood on her. Thanks to her sachstein kept some distance between them. Hearing the reports of a new force, ellen wasn't very surprised. The enemies in front of them were no longer to trying to lure them in but instead simply watched ellen. when Lim asks if they will beat a hasty retreat, ellen told her they will stand their ground and watch what the new 5000 reinforcements will do. Her guess was that the 5000 was meant to keep ellen in check. Her guess turned out to be right as the 5000 had no intention of engaging them. ellen starts ordering a slow retreat and they successfully joins the rest of Lumiere.
Lumiere pulls back all the way to river that was to the south of them and watches as sachstein slowly retreats back to their fort.
The first battle was over. Even though it was a short battle, they had lost 200 men in the center. The right Zchted wing lost less than hundred. The left wing under Shaie and Bluleck had lost over 300. Tigre estimates the enemy had lost around the same number of troops altogether. If they keep fighting while sharing similar losses, the numerical inferior Lumiere would be at an disadvantage. Tigre believes they need try something else.
They made camp and while Tigre was busy processing his duties as the supreme commander, Ellen Lim Masthus Shaie Bluleck and titta entered the command tent. Shaie bows and Bluleck apologizes, they had lost over 300 men. Tigre forgives them.
As they all sit down, Tigre asks them what they think. Lim comments that their enemies are troublesome, she could tell from watching the center fight that the enemy was very good at luring. Even though Lim was in charge of the right wing, she also observed her allies's forces and could tell that their center was getting pulled in by the enemy center.
>>
>>124150495

Shaie in a serious manner asks how Zchted handled the situation. Ellen boasts that the enemy didn't pull them in, she made them retreat for real by cutting them down herself. Bluleck asks if this was how Zchted fights but Shaie complements her. While Shaie goes silent, deep in his own thoughts, Tigre asks them how they think the enemy will move in the future. They come to the conclusion that the enemy would keep doing the same thing and keep trying to draw them into the Gelfort. It is then that they got interrupted from outside.
It is Rurick and he asks for ellen. Tigre and Ellen look at each other. Asking for ellen meant it was a matter that couldn't be discussed here. After ellen leaves, the five of them continue discussing their future plans but they couldn't come up with anything. They decide for tonight they will just watch what the enemy do and the meeting is over.
>>
>>124150566

Inside Galefort stood Klugel. As Tigre guessed, Sachstein lost about 1000 soldiers. Klugel comments that they got cocky because everything else was going as planned before. As usual he has two dices rolling around his hands. He sighs, although they lost more men then the enemy, it was still nearly the same amount of loses on both sides so it wouldn't be considered a lost. But still it was dissatisfying for them.
Then Klugel focuses his thoughts on the argent hair vanadis. So that's a vanadis he thought. Before Klugel invaded Brune he had looked into vanadis and found out that supposedly they were beautiful maidens who enters the front of battlefield with their weapon and possesses the force of 1000 cavalry. When he first heard this he naturally thought it was a joke and made fun of it together with his troops.
It wasn't only the vanadis that surprised Klugel. In the enemy center there was a man with frightening accuracy that kept shooting down their commanders. When thinking of such a person in Brune, only Tigre would come to mind. Klugel wonders what their next move would be. If they want to just camp here it would please Klugel. Keeping powerful threats like them immobilized was their objective. After the 50,000 western sachstein army conquers the capital Nice they could merge with them here in the Galefort. They still have ten days of food and supplies. Even if new supplies from Nemetacum and the port towns come in late they could still endure it.
Inside Klugel's heart there is turmoil. Tigre and Ellen. The hero of Brune and the vanadis of Zchted. If he could overcome them then it would be a big accomplishment.
Klugel was born a commoner. Aside from his dream of a perfect castle fort, he has ambitions. He has confidence in the abilities of his Galefort, but luring in Tigre and Ellen would be difficult. He glances at his dices. After some hesitation, he decides to put the dices inside his pocket.

Chapter 4, titled "The Illusory Princess of the Hollow Shadow". This is also the last chapter of the volume

When Tigre was called to Ellen's tent, it was a while after the meeting had ended. He had just finished dinner with Marthus, Casper and titta. Led by Rurick, Tigre enters Ellen's tent.
When he entered, he could see ellen and Lim and one other female.
She politely greets Tigre. Decorating her long black hair is a single white rose. On her body is a white dress decorated with red and purple roses. Along with her smile, she leaves a deep impression to anyone looking at her.
Possessing the nickname of the Illusory Princess of the Hollow Shadow, she is Valentina Glinka Estes.
She explains that she had just arrived here with a horse carriage. Sitting down next her was Ellen and standing behind ellen was Lim. rurick smirks at Tigre before excusing himself. Although it was the proper move, Tigre thinks Rurick is just escaping from the situation. So this was why Ellen was called during the meeting. In any case Tigre couldn't just leave here, there is now another vanadis here.
Tigre bows and thanks her for coming. Valentina tells him that she is an ally and he doesn't have to be so formal with her and tells him to just call him Valentina (Tigre up to now referred to her Valentina-dono). Looking back up, Tigre sees her smiling. As usual he had no idea what she is thinking.
>>
>>124150916

Tigre starts asking how she knew where they were. She explains it was a coincidence. After she had left the capital silesia she sent messengers out to Osterode to gather troops. Meanwhile she herself rode to Legus and took a ship to Brune. When she arrived at Brune she found out about the western and southern Sachstein armies. Since the south army had less men, she decided to head south to see the situation for herself. Once she was a at Poulainville (the land north of Nenetacum), she heard about Tigre's army and came straight to them in a horse carriage. Lim then went up to Tigre and shows him what was inside the horse carriage, boxes of liquor.
Tigre thanks her and asks her wheres her troops. Looking at her fingers, Valentina says they should be on ships on their way to Brune. Tigre couldn't hide his shock as he ppers at Valentina. Even though vanadises were known to be a force of 1000, Valentina had a weak body. During the new years festival Tigre had barely seen Valentina. He didn't expect her to come by herself to the battlefield. Unlike ellen, Valentina is supposed to only be here under her king's orders.
Tigre thanks her and excuses her telling her she should go rest however she refuses since she wants to know the present situation. Tigre looks at ellen but Ellen tells him he's the supreme commander so he should explain.
>>
>>124151244

Tigre first explains the enemy is strong and their army is having a hard time producing results. to this Valentina only nonchalantly replies that that sounds terrible. Tigre feels as if she isn't being serious and asks if she could offer any advice. ellen cuts in and says that more advice she would rather Valentina use her dragon skill. Pointing at Valentina, ellen laughs and says her dragon skill lets her teleport so she should just teleport to the enemy commander and cut off his head.
There is only Tigre, ellen, Lim and Valentina in the tent. Ellen never once believed Valentina would come. The first time Valentina met Tigre was during the new years festival, there shouldn't be any reason for Valentina to seriously lend her help to Tigre. Ellen wanted to know how serious Valentina was in wanting to help Tigre. Above all, she wanted to know if her dragon tool really had such a scary ability such as teleportation.
>>
>>124151438

Valentina cutely tilts her head as she explains that although her dragon tool does have such an ability, she can't do as ellen says. When ellen asks why, she explains that after using her dragon skill she gets so fatigued that she could barely even stand. She confirms with Ellen if that was the same case with Ellen's dragon skill and ellen consents.
However Valentina says that there is still a way to exploit her powers and faces Tigre. Valentina says that they could use Tigre's name to request an interview with the enemy commander. Seeing Tigre's troubled expression, Valentina happily continues.
Valentina explains that Tigre would request to add two guards with him. ellen and tigre counters back saying what if the enemy doesn't agree to this conditions and doesn't accept the request for an interview.
Valentina explains if they want to have an interview they would let tigre come with a few guards. Even if they have no interest in actually talking, they could use the interview as a pretense to killing Tigre so they would likely accept the request. In addition they would let the enemy choose the location for the interview. ellen then counters that if Tigre only takes two guards, it was likely the enemy would come with many soldiers. Valentina happily replies thats the point. Valentina happily watches as Tigre is confused. Irritated, ellen tells her to get to the point and not make tigre wait.
Valentina explains that pressing the condition of only taking two guards, tigre ellen and valentina will met the enemy commander for an interview. Then as if was nothing, she explains with a smile that they will then kill the enemy commander.
>>
>>124151745

The air around the tent drops several degrees. Tigre and even ellen and Lim had trouble swallowing processing Valentina's words. Still smiling, Valentina continues explaining that in the event the enemy comes with alot of soldiers, they would just only the enemy commander and then she would use her dragon skill to teleport them away to safety. Pointing to her dragon tool, the great sickle, she explains this is her method of helping Tigre.
Tigre quietly asks what if the enemy agrees to the condition of the interview and actually only brings two guards with him. Valentina in that case they would kill everyone and could afterwards use any number of reasons to justify it, like the enemy had started pulling out their swords. When Ellen asks if it would be so simple, Valentina explains ellen was a master of close combat and Tigre could shoot anyone within three hundred meters.
Silence visits the tent again. After a count of ten Tigre begins speaking, asking if Valentina had ever used this plan before. She smiles and replies this is the first time. Tigre replies that thats good and tells her she should only use her power to protect herself, as they had discussed beforehand at the capital silesia.
Valentina stares at Tigre. She comments that she had thought he was someone who uses his brains more to figure out the best way to utilize the pieces he had. Tigre jokes that thinking isn't his strong point.
While laughing, Tigre admonishes himself deep inside. For his people that followed from Alsace, for the people from Leitmeritz, for the Brune people who rose to defend their land, Tigre should be choosing the method that saves as much people as possible.
But Tigre couldn't do it. He remembered what he said to Ludmira. He did not want to do something that made him unable to face the important people he cared about.
Then while smiling, Valentina tells him she has another proposal.
>>
>>124152210

After the four of them finished talking, Valentina excuses herself. Since she didn't bring her own tent, she is going to be borrowing an extra from Ellen. After she leaves, ellen asks why Tigre didn't accept her first plan. He tells her there was no way he could accept such a plan. Ellen retorts that it was an effective plan. Ellen was right, and because she was right Tigre is angry. While ellen is staring at him, Tigre looks at Lim for help but Lim also wants to hear his answer.
Tigre replies that he didn't accept the plan because it didn't match his character. When he asked if it was good enough of a reason, ellen replies it was more than enough.
Standing up, she walks around to tigre and and sits behind him, leaning her back with his.
Ellen explains that she also didn't like the plan but above all she doesn't trust Valentina. There was no proof Valentina could or would teleport Tigre and ellen out with her. Tigre says that Valentina wouldn't do something so bastardly. But he himself also had his doubts, he doesn't know anything about her.
Lim starts speaking. She explains if this plan gets exposed it would dirty tigre and ellen's name. Even though it is said the person who wins is in the right and correct, there is a chance those sentiments wouldn't last long. Lim did not want to make Tigre and ellen into villains. Hearing Lim's words Tigre finalyl starts calming down his anger. Leaning on Tigre, ellen tells him it was a good thing he refused Valentina's plan. Ellen tells Lim to also convey her feelings to Tigre that she approved of his actions. Without saying a word Lim, walks over to him and knees down. Then she starts patting him in the head. Red faced, tigre lets the two of them do as they please for a while.

The moon raises in the sky. Lumiere stays in their camp showing no signs of movement. Hearing the report, Klugel tells his adjunct to order the men to rest while maintaining a watch. When the adjunct asks if they should use catapults and crossbows to stimulate the enemy to coming. Klugel shakes his head. On top of this hill, Galefort can see the whole surroundings. Klugel maintains that they will keep watching. For the rest of the day, Klugel kept watching.

Well, someone has to suggest the bastardly plan and I can appreciate that.
>>
>>124152764

While the sun was about to rise the next day, Tigre left the camp and headed to the river south of them. Valentina's words last night still remained in his head. She proposed it, and he refused it. Although if he drank alcohol he could've maybe forgotten it all but he was the supreme commander, he couldn't go and get drunk. So he thought they maybe he should go for a swim to clear his head.
Tigre thought he should've consulted with Marthus. The only ones who knew about the plan was him, ellen and lim. Because of the topic of the dragon skill, he couldn't talk about it with anyone else. Tigre looks at the river. Even though they were at the plains, there were scrubs and trees near the river. In order to avoid attention, Tigre had headed to a spot where there was plenty of scrubs and trees.
Then noticed there were sounds of water being splashed. If it was an wild animal then there would be fine but there's a chance someone also came to the river for an early morning dip.
Silently Tigre walks two hundred meters away. After confirming there was no more water sounds, he strips naked and sits in the river with the water reaching up to his chest. The water was cold but it wasn't too cold. tigre splashes water on his face. After a count of about hundred, Tigre decided this was good enough to regain his composure.
It was then there was a strong gust. Reacting to it, Tigre hides in the water, it was then he noticed something floating in the water. It was a rose. Picking it up, Tigre noticed it was a fake rose. Using a pretty stone as a base, it was decorated to look like a rose. However it was unnatural. Tigre had seen many fake flowers before but touching and looking at it, this one was very different from the fake flowers he had seen before.
While wondering about it, he picks it up and heads out of the river. It was then he realized there was sounds of footsteps.
Underneath a tree is a woman. Tigre eyes got wide open.

It was surprising enough that that woman was Valentina, but in addition she wasn't wearing anything. Her long wet black hair rested on her shoulders and fell on her two rich breasts. Further down was the obvious shape of a shapely hips. It was a glorious sight.
Valentina replies 'oh my'. She had realized Tigre was there. Though surprised, she was not embarrassed. Tigre was also naked. She too was staring and looking up and down at Tigre's body.
Tigre quickly turns around and apologizes. But it was too late. He was staring too hard at her body. Furthermore, the reaction his lower body made was firmly noted in Valentina's eyes.
Before he could finish apologizing, Tigre felt the cold sensation of gold metal around his neck. Glancing down on it, it was the blade of a great sickle he had seen before. The blade starts lightly tapping Tigre's chest.
In a low voice, she asked if Tigre had seen her. Tigre could only reply yes. Even if he wanted to lie, his lower body was honest.
Valentina praises him for being honest. As if caressing him, the sikcle slowly touches Tigre here and there as it slowly inches downward. Finally it stops around Tigre's waist.
Valentina comments even though it was an accident, there still needed to be a punishment. She wonders out loud if she should maybe cut this thing off. The blood drains from Tigre's whole body. Yet there was a certain part of his body that was still hot. If he makes any movements it could really get cut off.

Alright gonna take a break here.

Fanservice scenes can be serious too. Just not when they go 'kyaa, baka, die' etc.

Honestly, this is light compared to western fantasy scenes. In a western book, they'd have fucked by now.

Suddenly the sickle releases Tigre. With a bright voice behind him, Valentina tells him it was a joke and to ask him to give her what he's holding in his hands. Tigre drops the fake rose behind him and hears her pick it up behind him. When he asks if it was hers, she tells him the wind had blown it away and dropped it into the river. When she panicked and came to pick it up she met Tigre.
Tigre then asks where her dragon tool came from. She remains him she had already explained during the meeting last night that vanadises can summon their dragon tool no matter the distance between them. Tigre remembers, and it was after he confirmed with ellen that he agreed to valentina's second proposal.
While he was commenting that that fake rose was important to valentina, he hears her walking away. She tells him that it wasn't damaged and as thanks to him for picking it up, she will forget about this matter.
Tigre couldn't help but ask if that was alright. She retorts that it would be the best if both of them kept quiet. She comments that she hopes Tigre like his body will not lie. While tigre's red faced, valentina brightly tells him that she has much expectations for him. After valentina disappears, tigre once more dips into the river.

It was during the evening that a visitor from Lumiere appeared before Galefort requesting a meeting. During this time Klugel was having his dinner. After slowly finishing his meal, Klugel was surprised to hear who the visitors were. Vanadis. The messenger reports to him that it was a black hair vanadis wearing a white dress carrying a big sickle behind her. There was also an argent hair vanadis next to her.
Klugel goes out to confirm it. Two hundred meters away there was the two vanadis on horses. Everyone already knew what ellen looked like since she was on the battlefield. But this was the first time anyone has seen Valentina. Unlike ellen who was wearing armor, Valentina was wearing a white dress. Furthermore her only weapon was the unnaturally large sickle.
It was then Valentina started riding towards the Galefort. Ellen remained behind. Klugel notes that in the past there had been cases where an enemy country would kill the diplomat and make excuses saying the diplomat never came. Ellen was mostly here to not let them make that excuse. If they kill Valentina here they would make Zchted their enemy.
as usual Klugel had his two dices in his hands but he hesitated to roll them. Above all, the messenger was from Zchted, not Brune. He was interested in what she had to say. After he tells his men to confiscate her scythe (just noticed at this point I've kept saying her scythe was a sickle, whoops whatever), he waits for her ontop of the hill.
Seeing her up close, he can't help but be surprised by her white dress. He asks her if she had just slid out of a party. She replies back this was her battle outfit, she would have more roses decorating her party dress and if they have the chance later she would love to show it to him. Smiling she introduces herself as Valentina Glinka Estes, the vanadis of Zchted.
>>
>>124156886

Klugel had never seen a vanadis before. Seeing ellen on the battlefield, he consented that was what a vanadis was supposed to be. However Valentina was different. She did not have the aura of a knight. Above all, unlike ellen's long sword, her weapon was a scythe, essentially a farming tool. Klugel questions if the argent hair woman was also a vanadis and Valentina confirms it. When he asks if this meant Zchted had sent two vanadises to Brune, as always while smiling she replies back that at this present location they have two vanadises.
Klugel was surprised by that remark. In front of the enemy general Valentina not only is calm and collected but smiling. While she may not be suited for the battlefield, he consents that she indeed was a vanadis.
Klugel gets to the point and asks what is the purpose of her visit. She tells him that she wants the sachstein to surrender. Klugel was disappointed hearing that and his evacuation of Valentina plummeted.
When he tries to tell her to go back because they had a good reason for fighting, Valentina inquires to what the reason was. Since Valentina kept asking questions that showed she didn't know anything, Klugel slowly explained to her about Melisande and how she was Queen Regin's cousin, how she had the right to throne, and how Sachstein believes in her right to the throne and how Sachstein moved to support Melisande so she could become the new queen.
After he finished explaining and seeing Valentina was satisfied, as he was about to call a soldier to escort her out, she calls him out saying she had something to say.
She tells him this time she will act as a messenger of Zchted. Even though she was smiling as always, the atmosphere around them quickly changed. when he asked back if it was another request for surrender, she tells him that was her speaking as a messenger of the Lumiere Army.
He grants her permission to speak. She asks if Sachstein and Zchted couldn't work together to divide up Brune.

>>
>>124157311

Klugel presses his doubts onto Valentina and she answers them with a smile. She reasons out why Zchted would work with Sachstein instead of muozinel or Asvarre to conquer Brune. When he asked her if she intended to betray Tigre, she explains that Tigre was already secretly working as puppet of king victor. She asks if he knows about how Tigre was sent to zchted as a guest general. It was during this time that he was already part of Zchted. She explains just like how Sachstein is using Melisande's rights, Zchted had secretly planned to use Tigre as a pretext to attack Brune. Then she asks if he knew about how Tigre was sent to Asvarre as a diplomat. She explains why would someone was a Brune lord would all of sudden work in the interests of Zchted and fight in the asvarre work when he was only supposed to be a guest.
Valentina's reasonings were sound. After they confirmed each other intentions that they just wanted to take Brune, not destroy it, she asks Klugel which part of Brune Sachstein would like. Sachstein was interested in the ports in north and the rich land in the east so he tells her they would like the north and east.
However Klugel needed proof she wasn't lying. She tells him that tomorrow night while the Lumiere camp is sleeping, they will light the torches up, this was the signal. Then they would cause chaos and confusion. Klugel then adds another condition, he wanted Valentina, if not her then ellen or tigre to remain inside their fort before they cause the revolt. Right away Valentina replies that she will remain before. Afterwards, the black hair vanadis returns back to the lumiere camp.

The next day, there was no battle either. Sachstein tried to lure them in with catapults and crossbows. Lumiere would counterattack and Sachstein would pull back. But Lumiere would not follow. When the sun setted, Valentina arrived at the Galefort. Klugel welcomes her and tells to rest inside. Klugel finally trusts her. Even if tonight's night raid fails, they still have a valuable hostage.
Klugel takes the dices out of his pockets. After some hestiation he rolls them. 2 and 3. He finally breathes. He had collected sweat in his face. He had been fairly stressed. But finally this meant things would proceed well. Collecting the dices, he gives out orders for the troops to get ready. He calls for a hundred men to guard Valentina's room and to make sure her scythe was hidden far away.
When the sky got dark, troops slowly walked out of the fort. Their number totaled 18,000. 500 remained behind in the fort with valentina. They covered themselves in dirt. They got into position near the Lumiere camp. After a while, the camp got bright all of sudden. There was a loud commotion and Klugel sees figures moving around in the camp. Klugel orders his troops to attack. If this night raid succeeds, they could abandon the galefort and join up with schmitt.
Sachstein charges at the enemy camp. However it was then they realized their enemy who supposed to be in chaos were holding spears and shields. Arrows starts falling on the sachstein troops. More importantly, they realized traps and holes had been set around the camp and one by one soldiers were falling into them in the darkness. Klugel realized they had been tricked by the black hair vanadis. Klugel then sees the figure of an argent hair vanadis on horse. They made eye contract and ellen immediately starts charging at his position. Ellen doesn't know what Klugel looked like, but she judged from the way his men was protecting him that he was the commander.

Though his advisors urged him to retreat, Klugel pulls his sword out in anger and advances. He and Ellen shout at each other across the battlefield. ellen introduces herself and tells Klugel to retreat back to his home country. It was then an arrow hits Klugel's helmet. Klugel begins calling for a retreat.
While ellen was facing off Klugel, Tigre took Shaie's 2000 Lutece Knights with him as they ride towards the Galefort. Their purpose is to rescue Valentina who is being hold hostage there. They charge at the galefort and fought its defenders. Form Shaie and the knights it was finally time to release the anger they had pent up.
While Tigre was looking around at the top of the hill, a womanly voice comments that the enemy is in disarray. Tigre shouts Valentina's name and the voice immediately answers back. Wearing her fancy white dress was Valentina standing before him.
Shocked, Tigre asks if she had used her dragon skill. Even if she was safe, how did she get behind him this quickly.
Cutely shaking her head, Valentina answers that using dragon skill is very tiring. she draws close and embraces Tigre, whispering into his ears. She answers that it is because it is him, she will tell him how she escaped. She tells him that she had set a fire.
When he asks how she managed to set a fire, she tells him to look at her. Looking at her face confused, she giggles and tells him to look at her whole body. Finally he realized. There was no roses decorating her dress. She explains her fake roses were special and when rubbed together they can create a big spark. Tigre consented realizing why he previously thought her fake rose was so unnatural. In the room she was imprisoned in she had set the chair she was sitting in on fire. After the fire was big enough she called out to her guards who panicked as they try to stop the fire. She slipped out during the confusion.

After she finished explaining, she looks at Tigre and comments that he really came to rescue her. He answers of course. When they first went over this plan, Tigre promised to her that he would come personally rescue her. At that time she had laughed as if she didn't believe he would really do it.
While Tigre is wondering what to make of her smiling face, Valentina all of sudden changed her expression. Panicking he asks her if she was injured. She tells him she is tired. Tigre thought her voice doesn't sound that way. She continues that she has a weak body and tells Tigre to carry her on his back.
Tigre isn't sure what to do. He still had arrows in quiver plus the knights were still engaging the enemy. Until they surrender theres no chance for him to take a break.
Valentina comments that a good commander wouldn't try to take away his subordinates achievements. Tigre gives up. Right the battle was largely in their favor, if he lefts it the rest to Shaie there shouldn't be any problems. Tigre carries Valentina on his back and starts moving towards a safe location for them to rest. Though it doesn't look like she is tired to him, maybe she really is. While riding on his back, Valentina presses her soft body against Tigre. Although he had his leather armor on, he could still feel the sensation through it. Valentina then asks why he had agreed to her plan. He answered it was because he thought it could work.
If he didn't know about her dragon skill, he probably wouldn't have agreed on it. The key point to this plan was when the enemy asked for proof, Valentina volunteered to be the hostage. Normally this would be an extremely dangerous task where the hostage could even die. But Valentina had her dragon skill so Tigre bet on it. Tigre comments however that this is last time they will use this plan because her method of escaping was too risky. commenting that she's insulted, she pulls on tigre's ear with her right hand.

As the sun rises in the sky, the sachstein soldiers still looked as if it was night time. After he reorganized the army, Klugel called for anyone who can still move their bodies to go scout. Even though Klugel was covered in dirt and sweat, there was still alot he had to do before he could rest. The Sachstein army right now was located ten kilometers south of where they were. Currently they have 13,000 men. In a single night they had lost 30% of their force. A complete defeat.
In the darkness, many troops could've ran away. However they didn't. One reason was that they were in a foreign land. The second was that they trusted their commander who was born a commoner. According to the scouts, Lumiere had not really moved from their location.
Wondering if what Lumiere's next move would be, whether it was to head to the capital Nice or face off against Schmitt, he guessed they would instead come south to pursue them. Lumiere could not risk them joining Schmitt's forces. As for them, they also can not ignore Lumiere. They had abandoned the Galefort along with all the food and supplies in it. They have over a 10,000 men to feed, even if they attack nearby towns and villages at most it would keep them supplied for a day or two.
Klugel's army marches south under the sun. Entering a land called Bowal, Klugel orders the army to stop.In addition to an average sized hill, it was surrounded by plains. They would wait for Lumiere here.
Klugel confirms their weapons. They have around 1000 crossbows left and not even 500 bolts left. during their hastily retreat they had to drop most of them. The top of the hill would only fit about 500 men. They start setting up camp.
According a messenger, food and supplies would arrive from the south from Nemetacum tomorrow. However Klugel did not tell this to his soldiers. If the supplies get delayed or lost, it would affect morale.

Klugel calls for two messengers. One will go to Schmitt and tell him that there are Zchted forces and two vanadises here. For the second messenger he had a special mission. He wants him to go to the capital Nice and spread word that Tigre is a Zchted puppet and that he plans to hand Brune land to the Zchted king. No matter what tricks he uses he wants him to spread the rumor to everyone from nobles to commoners. It was from talking to Valentina that Klugel thought up of this plan. If he could create a rift between the capital and Tigre then it would be the proceeding war easier.
After he sends the messengers off with food and supplies, Klugel monologues with himself. He only needs one day. Just one day's worth of food and time. In one day he would be able to create the Galefort on this small hill. Then they would be able to protect themselves any number of Brune and Zchted forces. But they don't have the supplies. Even if they did his men are too tired to build the fort. If he forces them to build it anyway then they were be too worn out to fight when the time comes.
After some time passes Klugel receives a report from a scout. Food and supplies from Nemetacum are currently on their way here. Everyone in the tent hearing the report couldn't hide their joy. However soon after another scout reports that Lumiere is heading to their location from the north. Klugel immediately sends a report out to his men that food is shortly on their way here and also the enemy too. The enemy would deprive them of their meal. If they want to survive they will to fight. Win and survive and erase their disgrace. Soon the Sachstein camp was filled fierce shouts.

Sachstein's voices carried through the winds and each reached Lumiere's ears. They had created a makeshift fort and are currently eating and resting. 1000 men are currently standing by. Though they're resting, no one has had any time wash themselves with water, they are all covered in dirt and blood.
Ellen comments that the Sachstein morale is pretty high. When ellen asks Tigre what they should do next, he tells her they will fight.
Tigre will not allow them to buy any more time. They already have a fort built but if they let them continue building it, they will recreate the Galefort. If that happens they will have no chance of a quick victory. Galefort was the creation of the enemy commander, he must be stopped here.
tigre quickly orders them into formation. In the center is 4000 troops from Brune aristocrats. On the right wing is the 2000 troops from Zchted. On the left wing is the 2000 Lutece knights. Tigre will take command of the center with Marthus as his adjunct. ellen will take command of the right wing with Lim as her adjunct. Shaie will take command of the left wing. Tigre tells Marthus he wants something prepared in advance, just in case. Afterwards Ellen rides up to Tigre and tells him her forces are ready. Tigre smiles and thanks her. Ellen didn't need to come to him in person to tell that to him, she could've left it to a general.
Ellen then pulls her horse next to Tigre and starts talking about Valentina. Apparently she told her she was tired so Ellen placed her horse carriage at the rear of the right wing, where valentina is currently resting in. Tigre shakes his head. Two hours ago when he last saw her she didn't look tired at all to him. however there was no time to interview her. and in the case she really was tired, he would feel bad. Tigre says it was fine, she had already done her part.

Ellen then teases Tigre for carrying Valentina on his back. A Lutece knight must've saw them. When Ellen asks if tigre had fallen for Valentina, he swears to the gods that he hadn't. ellen laughs and comments that he shouldn't get the gods involved for something so trivial. Tigre replies that as long as ellen trusts him then he doesn't care if the gods are unhappy. Satisfied and happy, ellen tells him to leave right wing to her and lim and to just focus on commanding the whole army. After a few more words, the two of them shake hands and stare at each others eyes. A few moments later they let go and ellen rides off.

The Sachstein army finished their formation the same time Lumiere did. Klugel with 500 men will be stationed on top of the hill. In their center is 7000 men, with 3000 men each on their left and rings. 500 would stay at the rear as reserves. Both armies marches towards each other. The Zchted forces starts shooting with their bows. Any Brune soldier with a bow also starts shooting, and those who doesn't have a bow threw stones. During the ranged combat, Sachstein's center started charging. The Lumiere center immediately started collapsing. The differences in numbers between the two center was too great, the Lumiere center immediately starts pulling back. Tigre bites his lips.
Marthus comments that it's time. Tigre nods and gives the signal. 200 men from the rear of the center start moving. although they weren't wearing any armor, they were carrying crossbows. This unit was under the command of Marthus's son, Casper. Casper's unit starts shooting at the right flank of the enemy center. 200 bolts fly up in the sky followed by Sachstein cries. Casper couldn't help but admire the power of the crossbow.
After the battle of the Galefort, the Sachstein had left behind their crossbows and bolts. Because Casper was someone who didn't look down on the bow, he came up with the idea of scavenging the crossbows the enemy left behind. Tigre and Marthus approved the plan and in half a day, Casper formed a unit of 200 soldiers who was able to use the crossbow. Casper's unit had halted the enemy center's charge.
When Casper's unit moved out, another unit moved out of the rear got into position. This was the 2000 cavalry under Bluleck's command. They charged into the left flank of the enemy center. The enemy center is now under attack both from the front and left and their advance had stopped. Tigre's plan was to keep them from advancing and buy time for their left and right wing to beat back the enemy wings and then flank the center.
>>
>>124164012

However here is where tigre's plan started going wrong. When Shaie's knights charged they would force the enemy to retreat. However the enemy would then regroup and advance forward again. It would keep repeating like this. The same thing was happening on the right wing with ellen's forces.

The reason for the movements of Sachstein's wings was because of Klugel's abilities. Klugel is taking command on top of the hill. At the same time he is also taking charge on building the fort. He is convinced if he can keep the enemy wings busy, his 7000 men center would be able to beat back the enemy. He sends an order for the center to push.
