I desire to watch the entire Monogatari series, starting with Baka today, is it a worthwhile investment? Mostly because there isn't much this season and I decided I want to watch Kizumonogatari but of course that seems like a retarded idea without watching the others...
Even though it's a prequel from what I understand it still seems like it's the last in the series that should be watched.
Am I doing the right thing?

The monogatari series is good if you understand that it's a pseudophilosophical harem with heavy emphasis on fanservice and dialogue. Even though the plot would make you think it's an action show (part-Vampire high school student fights monsters and ghosts), most of the budget goes towards creating avant garde scenery, unique OP/ED (everyone gets one) and panty shots.
With that in mind;
1) The fanservice is phenomanal
2) The scenery is gorgeous
3) When the action shows up, it's bretty good : D

I want ask Nisio Isin how he manages to make his side-characters so good, but the protagonists so bad. Rrrgi is alright as a protag, but when the girls are the center of attention they get boring as fuck. It's like they put up a show for KoyoKoyo or something; they are only interesting around him.

I started the whole thing last month and finished recently and it is probably the most consistent and constant-high-quality set of stories narrated by anime.
You'll love the characters and their development aswell. Also their haircuts.

The monogatari series can go from absolutely god tier programming to absolute trash depending on who is on screen at a given time.
For example: Kaiki, Shinobu as opposed to Snake or Cat
