However, none of this justifies the way in which they went about leaving, and it doesn't mean shit to Megumi who came to know them as friends, not creators. While Tomoya can at least sympathize with their desire to grow as someone who is trying to become a creator himself, she had the rug pulled out from under her. I think the situation might be different if they were established. It's a difficult balance to maintain, but it's not impossible.

I don't get it. Around volume 3, Eriri and Tomoya fought about how he suffered because Eriri left him and how much she cried about it. She's also mad because Tomoya prefers his kouhais work than to hers.
When shes the more famous and experienced one. Tomoya just prefers his kouhais but envouraged her to prove him why she deserves to be his #1 artist. So in the end, they didn't make up but thanks to his motivation, she was able to draw awesome shit for the winter comiket.
After that, Tomoya and Eriri made up. But now she's in a slump. So she left Tomoya again so she can draw again. Saying that he's stalling her creativity and being with him would be the end of them.

Well, it makes sense if you see things from her perspective. She's an average girl with an average and dull life. Then one day one freak obsessed with otaku culture starts obsessing over her after a casual meeting that inspired and motivated him to develop a game based on his - poor - ideal version of her persona. That nerd also happens to be acquainted with two genius artists and the most popular idols in the school who are already successful in that industry but won't help him for having such an incomplete and vague proposal.
Right off the bat she has the chance of hanging out with those quirky and talented people while being the raison d'etre and heroine of their game, she only has to give the nerd's idea a solid shape and make the artists seem that it could be fun to give it a try. She has no reason to keep living her boring uneventful life after this, and the rest is history.
Also, it's not that she just does what Tomoya tells her to do, most of the things she does are out of her own free will and initiative. Things like that are what make Tomoya slowly ditch his projection of what Megumi should be like and fall for the true charm of Megumi as a person.
