Here's my problem.
He's right that Kabaneri was always dumb. But like, it was dumb enough that you could watch it as a silly action movie, and that's why I liked it. My problem, and probably everybody else's, was that the Biba arc is dumbER than what came before it. First we're supposed to be thinking this show is action schlock and that's fine but then they actually start trying to throw in a real plot and shit. Nobody cares about Biba's vengeance or his stupid "I'm evil" tendencies as much as they did watching every week to see a group of relatively likable characters interact on a train.
With Digibro's logic, Guilty Crown would be considered "smarter" because it did financially better on all levels.
And my god did they fuck up Mumei. He says that I should be in love with her from her first action scene, AND I WAS! I really did like her. So it's baffling that the show does a complete 180 with her character to the point that she basically has to become a complete retard for the second part of the story to work.

It'd be nice if people actually appreciated or talked about composers that actually put some damn effort and we didnt get on a seasonal basis instead of worked gimmicks and recycled the same progressions and motifs over and over again. It's like people just want every soundtrack to sound exactly the same and just bland as hell. Peoples continued obsession and praise of Sawano as the "one good thing" about this or that crap show is possibly the most insane thing in anime right now and there's some pretty solid competition.
Also whenever Sawano scores a show I just kind of expect it to be exceptionally terrible. He specifically seems to get slapped on the worst fucking crap like Guilty Crown, Aldnoah.Zero, Owari no Seraph and now this lately.

Except it was always on the level of a dumb action movie, even during the final arc. The Biba arc was not only foreshadowed based on previous information given to the characters, he's not an unusual or rare type of villain for a dumb action movie or a post-apocalyptic setting. Why do you presume schlock can't have plot? There's no contradiction involved, nor does the definition suggest otherwise. You don't need to care about Biba as a person. Just seeing characters on a train endlessly isn't what dumb action movies do. They almost always come up with a greater threat for the final act and that's literally what happened in Kabaneri.
