I hated 2.0 slightly more than 3.0, honestly. It's more of a personal hatred though. 3.0 is more """"""""""""""""objectively"""""""""""""""" bad, while I just feel a personal hatred for 2.0 just for how bad they fucked up Neon Genesis. I'd watched all of the rebuild films in a row, and after really liking 1.0 for its mostly faithful adaptation of the first 6 episodes of Neon Genesis with some changes to mix things up a little (which is what I feel the rebuilds should have been in the first place), and absolutely hating 2.0 for the character assassination, stupid ending, adding an original character only for her to be completely useless in the grand scheme of things, and all of the other stupid bullshit, I had become so disconnected to the franchise that I stopped comparing 3.0 to literally anything I have ever seen in my life, and I was still disappointed.

I agree with you. However, 3.0 wasn't handled carefully enough, and what we got was just a mess of a movie where actual explanation of the wild new ideas presented to us, we got gay piano playing. Honestly, 3.0+1.0 cannot possibly juggle filling up the space between 2.0 and 3.0 and providing a satisfying conclusion to the rebuilds, and, by extension, Evangelion as a whole. They'd have to either pick one or the other or do both halfway, and neither is a solution that will leave everybody happy.
