They are both very similar in their themes and structure though. And I wouldn't call Amanchu a sports manga at all. The diving aspect is more about the beauty of nature and the deepening of Dotty's friendships.

It's close to a sports manga in the sense that they show you plenty of diving tips and made you appreciate the fact that they were diving especially in the first volumes. Aria made you sightsee most of the time and the rowing took mostly a backdrop fairly early on.
But yes, while they may be similar, I could see how they could appeal to slightly different audiences. I felt that Amanchu was definitely more energetic overall.
