I just think it's more or the new blood coming in and more of the old blood going out. Mecha is like the hardest sell genre to Western fans ever and increasingly Japanese fans. Most Western fans hate anything with mecha by default and won't even touch it in a lot of cases, most fans period just want to see the latest hit LN trend thing or Visual Novel adaptation by popular well marketed people period so unless the Muv Luv Alternative VN suddenly gets an adaptation there's little hope for anything with mecha in it. The yuri aspects might carry this show for some people a little but I doubt it survives the stigma of being a mecha anime in 2016

Neither of these things are even remotely true. Mecha isn't the pinnacle of anime anymore like it was in the 90's, but it is still extremely profitable and translates well into the western world.
