That is way too much water for almost any type of rice, only fit for Americans who like their rice all mushy. If you want soft fluffy rice with separate grains, 1:1.25 to 1:1.5 ratio will do much better.Better yet, get yourself a rice cooker and use as instructed for perfect rice every time.

It's about right for long grain rice.
I'm not entirely sure what ratio I use, all I know is that if I use more water it tends to bubble out the steam vent on the rice cooker, so that is clearly too much.
I should really wash my rice though. I honestly can't be fucked though I'm sure it means I need to clean the cooker more than I would otherwise.
