Yes.
I really enjoyed the anime too by far one of the best sports anime I've seen and got really hooked and went to read the manga.
But then you slowly start to realize how unbelievably painful the pacing is and how utterly predictable every outcome of every fight is. The anime was a bit predictable too but nothing you couldn't brush of easily, but as the series progresses you can literally guess every little thing.
Then you have tons of inconsistency in the characters and on what he tries portray, and the absolute Naruto tier yamato damashi shit and asspull powers etc, again there was already a bit of nakama power in the anime but nothing compared to now.
All of these things by themselves don't make it bad but when it all starts pilling up more and more combined with having to deal with them through the unbearable pacing it gets hard to enjoy.
Honestly I'll keep reading this because HNI is kinda special to me and it's not that bad that I'd want to drop it, but it's nowhere near as what it was for me, the only things that still make it truly fun for me are the rare SoL chapters of the gang doing stupid shit, and even that is getting worse.

I don't think there's a series other than Bleach that can shit the bed as hard as HSD: K did. At least Hajime no Ippo still has Aokimura, its legendary Slice of Life chapters and occasionally a decent match.
It sucks that Kenichi's masters who started off as one of the best parts about the series are what ultimately ruined a series that should have just been about the disciplines fighting and saving the master battles for a spin-off/prequel series.

Rising was shit because they couldn't get the little bit of characterization Aoki, Ippo, Sawamura and Takamura gets right. The fact that the best part from Rising was literally the OVA they tacked on at the end solely because Kamogawa's VA passed away is pretty sad; that Nekota's VA would also pass away, shortly before Rising started made that they dedicated the series to them kind of insulting, when the Young Kamogawa arc was supposed to be released separately anyway.

Was shit from a pacing standpoint, they made it worse by making Eagle a cowardly champion, with and completely gloss over the post-fight scene where it's inferred that Takamura is hurt and staggering. Fuck they don't even do the pre-fight shit with Ippo worrying over Takamura's possible vision loss, to the point he goes to Sanada (who the omit from Rising, along with the awesome scene where Kenta Kobashi shows up) and ultimately almost gets into a street fight with some drunkard. The confrontation with Takamura is also ass in the anime. Why they would skip the build to a match when that's one of the series main strengths is retarded enough.

Sanada was the perfect opponent, simply because his match built on exposing the Dempsey Roll's weakness, which started with Sendo and went all the way through to the 'Cheese Champion' run to the Swamura fight.
Sawamura getting written out is only bullshit, since it was done at the expense of keeping Mashiba in the manga, when realistically it would have been better to have Mashiba lose and challenge Sawamura again for the OPBF title, to finish his character arc.

I'd like to believe Sendo will beat Alf and lose to Ricardo, because the alternative of having Ricardo retire undefeated and having Alfredo become the champ sounds like bullshit, especially since that would mean would could potentially get a sequence of Sendo, Miyata and possibly that fuck Wally all challenging the new WBC world champion before Ippo does. Keeping Ricardo in as a super champ at least makes Ippo eventually fighting him, after being spurned on after Sendo gets destroyed that much more of a better emotional and narrative payoff, even if it's cliche as fuck.

As an aside, it's amazing how many careers Ippo has ended and how many people from the beginning of the series were forced to stop boxing. I'm sure, at this point, Ippo has retired more opponents than Mashiba.
I just hope Morikawa gives half-a-shit to give Sendo a great send-off for his last match. Alfredo vs Sendo will likely be played up like Ippo vs Scratch J, where instead of it being a haymaker for haymaker--it'll be a straight out fucking brawl, since both are boxers with a history of being street thugs and rely on their instincts, when at their best.

I didn't acre much for how they did Eagle vs Takamura. If you watch that fight then watch Takamura vs Hawk, it's very apparent that the quality of the hawk fight was vastly superior, which is infuriating for me because eagle is one of my favorite fighters to have shown up in the series.
On the other hand, Kamogawa vs Anderson which is my absolute favorite fight in the entire series, they nailed that pretty fucking hard.
