Toei's problem isn't the animators (that's just a minor problem, but not THE one). Toei's problem is that they almost routinely mess up their work schedule. Then everybody is in a rush to meet deadlines, steps are skipped, drawings are half-assed and QC is pointless because there's no time to fix things anyway.
Toei is basically a worthless company nowadays.
DBZ was a borderline slide show for the most part, so they could blow out the budget on bigger moments. Aka, like every manga adaptation ever.
Super is lazy cash grab shit that fans like you will eat up and complain about.

Faulconer's music gets ripped to shreds for using too much synth but damn the Japanese score uses it too and it sounds even worse. I'd argue the piano and electric guitar in the Faulconer song sounds better than the cheesy 80s song used in the Japanese score.

I've watched the entire series dubbed and subbed, and I still can't decide which one I like better beyond really liking both. It's like, the japanese has that nostalgic 90s feel, but the Dub is just as fucking good.

The problem with light speed is that it requires infinite energy. If you release that much energy into a place, you get a black hole of infinite size.
FTL is faster than light, and therefore requires MORE than infinite energy.
In short, you cannot depict the environment reacting to such speeds in a meaningful way.

Sure you can. Everything's possible up until almost light-speed but here is the thing. While it's almost light-speed relative to the rest of the universe, to the traveler itself light is still moving past him at exactly the speed as before, so he still has to accelerate exactly as much as before, starting from 0.
And when he has thus accelerated twice to almost lightspeed, light is still moving past him like he's accomplished nothing at all.
And that is completely okay so long as you are satisfied with a sub-light speed story.

Even if it is made of light, the problem is that it's several thousand light years from one wing to the other.
In order for us to see it fully, the light from the one wing would need to be thousands of years older than from the other wing. So the dragon would need to be stationary for millennia.
