Exposition slows down a bit after the first few episodes, the fan service usually is just there for something to look at during what exposition there is. The studio got their shit together for the second half and got a better grasp of how an Object battle should look. The novels are good too, the first one was meant to be a "starter pack" do the setting which was why it had so much exposition nut after that you can read any novel and understand what's going on since it's mostly episodic. It also consistently gets better the further along.
