Musashi thought it was, but only because he bailed. He bailed because Pickle wasn't treating him as an enemy - I recall him referring to Pickle as having the mind of an innocent child or something similar. Pickle now sees Musashi as a meal greater than the crocodile or T-Rex; meaning he'll now fight Musashi seriously, and with far greater strength than before. Pickle starts starving himself with the intent to eat Musashi, and Doppo points out to the cast that starvation makes you stronger in some cases.
Pickle is lame now and the whole thing is dragged out already.

The implication is given that samurai/warriors of Musashi's era were far better soldiers than contemporary soldiers, because the latter can't really fight without their guns. Yuujiro only went unharmed in Vietnam because he never got shot, and he never got shot because he did things like hide in the ground until his targets were too close to get their shots off before he could strike them. If they were packing machetes, grenades or somesuch, chances are he'd have been repeatedly wounded as well.
16 year-old Musashi got injured at Sekigahara because every single soldier there was presumably Gaia-tier. I doubt 16 year-old Yuujiro would have gotten out of that (or an equivalent) unharmed as well. That aside, Musashi had a different lifestyle and presumably strength progression than Yuujiro. In pic related, the narrator recounts the tale of the Yoshioka versus Musashi. He destroys all of them, as the story goes, and is clearly unharmed on the next page. Musashi was 19 or 20 when he fought the Yoshioka.

That's an error many people do with fiction, and it's more common in manga since mangaka love to exaggerate and aren't very knoledgeable.
Always go by narrative. Only Katsumi's speed counts because it bears a lot of narrative weight. It's "The Mach Punch" because it's the only time anyone ever reached that speed, or else there wouldn't have been an arc about it.
And that punch required a top tier genius fully using the core techniques of very old martial arts. Yuujiro isn't breaking Mach with his punches, but let's be generous and say he reaches 90% of that.
Still, a punch is one of the fastest ways you can move a part of your body. Dodging requires way more speed.
And the concept of reading your opponent's moves is so widespread in the East that they wouldn't even bother to try to be that fast only for evading, when a more efficient way exists.

Musashi is as strong as he is for a reason: he had to be fighting people comparable in strength. Maybe not directly on-par, but within the general vicinity. So let's conservatively say that his strongest opponents were around Baki's level pre-Musashi training. That leaves a lot of room for tons of fighters to be below that, yet still remain as technical threats, especially en masse. Warriors were more common back then, so chances are that there was an equal proportion but greater amount of 'decent' fighters.

Not him, but you're mixing things up. During the Maximum Tournament, Katsumi had sonic (Mach 1) punches which used all his joints. In the Pickle arc, he achieved supersonic punches by imagining he had a shitton of joints.

Another season of the anime would be the only real way to get attention - there's pretty much 0 chance of ever getting a full physical release in the US. Baki is decently popular in Japan, so it's always possible that we'll get another anime. I think it's more dependent on Itagaki's will than any other factor, though. How about we all find Itagaki's email and harass the shit out of him for it?
