Got to the end of Second Season and decided not to go any further. Liked the core cast but I found it sorta frustrating to watch to be honest. It's a combination of all the characters being pathetic (by itself that doesn't have to be a bad thing) and every arc ending in an unsatisfying way. When these characters aren't mixed up in a dumb plotline and are just talking in character-driven scenes it's enjoyable, all that goes out of the window when plot has to happen though.
Not to mention the fucking awful exposition dumps and the constant stating of the obvious whenever an Excorcist is involved for some reason, since I guess the author doesn't have enough confidence in his ability to be subtle without the Excorcists coming in to spoonfeed you the big dumb moral of the story all the time.
I don't think I can talk about the animation in an unbiased manner since I don't like the style of it that this series uses, so I won't comment on it.

Gahara pretty much uses Kanbaru to try and test Araragi's faithfulness (which is sort of a dick move in my opinion especially given Kanbaru's fragile state post-Suruga Monkey in general though no one seems to acknowledge this for some reason) Not that it makes things "right" but he basically only flirts with the dead lolis and his sisters, neither of which "count" in his eyes.

I preferred Tsubasa Tiger and Nadeko Medusa to it personally. Maybe it's because I'm not quite as enamored with Kaiki's character as a lot of people on here are (I don't dislike him either though) but I got sort of impatient with the arc, a lot of it consisted of stating the obvious/what the audience already knows over and over again.

Suruga Devil, Suruga Monkey are beyond a doubt Kanbaru arcs and Shinobu Mail is an arc in which Kanbaru plays a leading role alongside Araragi even though it's Shinobu's story about her past with Seishiro.
Nadeko is an oddity amongst the Bake characters, she's the only one who never really gets expanded on and then actively shut out of the story by Kaiki telling Araragi to deny her existence.
They get a little interaction later on but basically the next best thing that happens for Nadeko is that she draws something which kills Tsukihi.

People had this idea that Hanekawa had a Twilight thing for Araragi, but this was rebuked in Neko Shiro. She says it's because he is actually such a pathetic person who also ends up doing great things that she likes him. Not that he was a prince, or anything else.
Hell, the clue was that when she and Gahara had their sleepover and Hitagi suggested talking about what they don't like about Araragi, Tsubasa notes she had the most negative things to say, while Hitagi ended up saying things she liked about him when you analyzed her. Like in Koi, Kaiki notes that she does let Araragi off real easy for doing really stupid things because she subconsciously approves.
Therefore, Hanekawa probably likes him even while seeing all of him and acknowledging which parts are bad. Which is why she still watches over him.

I haven't read the Neko Shiro translation, but this is probably a mistranslation or a misinterpretation. What she said was that all the things both of them listed were insults, but insults that when you really think about them, are actually more like compliments. Like "he's too kind," things like that.
Hanekawa definitely romanticizes Araragi a little bit. She thinks he can ne pathetic and it's not like she doesn't think he has flaws, but she thinks he's pretty much the paragon of kindness.

No, it was definitely Tsubasa who noted that her insults were actually criticisms. That doesn't mean she secretly hates him or anything, it means she does have problems with some parts of his personality, while Hitagi is serious when she says she likes everything.
Like I said, they even brought up this up in Koi when Kaiki suggested she push Araragi to stop foolishly going after Nadeko like he was. Hitagi condones, even subconsciously agrees with his style of heroics, while Hanekawa honestly criticizes him.
What they both love is that he helps people, but there are stark differences in the meaning of that love.

Loved it at first but got more and more tired of it with every season.
When Bake aired I was totally into it, but once the novelty was gone I found it hard to enjoy the series. The characters barely feel like characters, they feel more like mouthpieces for the author's borderline nonsensical "witty dialog". It's weird, because the whole series is a collection of character arcs, supposedly full of characterization and development, but everyone acts in such a weird and alien way that I just can't see them as people (fictional people, as in characters). No one speaks like a person or acts like a person at any point in time. Everyone seems to think in puns and act in whichever way leads to the wackiest minute long nonsensical Shinbo directed scene. The fact that everything seems to take place over a set of randomly assorted cool looking backdrops rather than any sort of actual place, in a deliberately abstract setting, definitely does not help. The whole thing ends up feeling more like a vehicle for the author's zany shenanigans than an actual story with actual characters, and while that was super cool and refreshing for the first few seasons, there's not much motivating me to keep up with it forever, since I can't find it in me to even see the characters as characters, much less care about them, and there's not much in the way of an overarching plot to make me want to stay and see where it's all going.
I feel like this series is all form and no substance, and that's just not enough once the form has grown stale by the 20th episode.
