As far as the episode itself is concerned, all that happened is that "she put on his clothes". Little kids aren't really going to make the "she changed clothes inside Ash's tent while Ash was there, so that means she must've stripped in front of him" connection as long as the show doesn't nudge them in that direction.

On a serious note, the coma theory, while it kind of makes sense, would be pretty unlikely in the real world. Comatose is a pretty heavy subject that most Japanese kids probably wouldn't even be aware of, and going in that direction might leave several confused children asking their parents. There could also be a backlash. While I know that Japanese kids shows have tackled dark themes before, and I do know that it's just a popular fan theory and nothing close to being official, but imagine if it was: OLM would have a lot of explaining to do.

Simple answer is because the girl's promotion of the current games is done. Misty kind of promoted G/S too given how Johto's connected to Kanto and you got to battle both Brock and Misty in G/S anyway. Unlike Alola which is clearly based on Hawaii and is not Southern Kalos.

well, here's the thing. The reason why the previous female companions got replaced is because they have a unique character design. X/Y and S/M now have character customization as features. He can, and he might. At this point it's really best to just wait and see rather than trying to second-guess where things are going. XY has done so many new and different things it's very hard to tell what their plans are. Last month, most people were practically certain we were getting a Flare arc followed by the league, and then the series did something entirely unexpected and had the league happen first.
