I think Araragi should stay with crab girl because I think she genuinely does love him. Personally I think she might feel this was for now because she's been pretty introverted for the past few years but I think having Araragi around will help her self-confidence and make her more outgoing. Araragi shouldn't necessarily drop either one of them, but he should still give Shinobu some full loving before his human lifespan ends because it would be too tragic if they held off because they thought he would have an extended lifespan but it ended up not being the case. I'm sure Shinobu herself is torn over whether or not she wants Araragi to herself. On one hand, she has to watch him be with another woman and know all of the details intimately which sucks. On the other hand, she genuinely wants the best for Araragi, including giving him the chance to live a human life that she never had. True, though you have to think that he was technically the only one who was able to save them from what was happening. He was one of the only people that actually believed them and knew what to do. In their view, he really was like a knight in shining armor. I guess since everything that had happened seemed so unreal (especially for Cat and Crab, since they're likely more into science and rational explanations as opposed to the supernatural) they are sort of unsure how to deal with what happens next. The fact that Araragi helps them and asks nothing in return is probably the worst, because it makes him seem even more like a gallant knight. To the girls, he's someone who showed up, shouldered all their burdens, and took them away without even asking for a penny in return. They feel indebted to him in many ways, and since they're young I think that debt is transferred into a sort of romantic reverence.

I feel like "crush" vs "in love" is way too close to being purely subjective semantics. The point is that he clearly has serious romantic feelings in the story, and Kabuki in particular makes it a point to trace those feelings back to Kizu. In Kizu itself he outright admitted an emotional attachment to her, and his internal turmoil at realizing she eats humans was much more extreme than what could be described as simple shock and regret.
As for Shinobu, she can't expected to know exactly what Araragi thinks of her, especially when their relationship was so strained. Even in Kabuki and Oni she expresses frustration at how unclear he is about how he feels about her.

It's hard to trust that quote of Araragi's when one of the misfortunes he's talking about totally gets turned into fortune. Kizu's big "tragedy" is that they compromised into their current soulbound state and both "became miserable" but by Kabuki it's a happy one and Route X Kiss-Shot is used to illustrate that.

That's Kissshot's perspective, not Araragi's. Even in Shinobu Mail's ending he reaffirms that he still sees it as miserable. Shinobu has hundreds of years of maturity behind her, but Araragi was just an emotionally-fragile teenager. Kizu royally fucked him up.

His reaction when he found out that Kiss-shot needed to eat humans was really extreme to me. It showed me that he was breaking bit by bit when resolving himself to kill her. When Hanekawa helped Araragi figure out what Kiss-shot was actually trying to do he cried tears of blood. I felt as if he got extremely angry, but not at her, more so at himself and fate i guess.
In route X Shinobu/Kiss-shots feelings have been made very clear. When she fell in love being at the begining of Kizu or a little later in Kizu, I am not sure. But I am sure that they both fell for the other in Kizu. Araragi and Kiss-shot did something unforgiveble to the other. They were both angry at the other.
Araragi striped kiss-shot of her power en pride and forced her to live while she died.
Kiss-shot deceived Araragi into wanting to kill her in order to turn him back into a human.

Araragi sounds like he's full of shit during his speech at the end of Shinobu Mail. Ononoki didn't look convinced either. I really can't see their relationship as unhappy. I don't see any evidence of them being hung up on those events. They were shit, they're not going to happen again. They've moved on. I think he's more held back from fear of rocking the boat and the idea that being fully honest with his feelings for Shinobu would count as cheating on Senjougahara.
I guess I need to reread Kabuki because I don't remember the kiss being evidence of their past relationship, only evidence of their relationship at the time and where it's headed.

Is it cheating in this case? This is just a feeling but I always felt as if it was the other way around. After reading Kizu I felt as if Araragi made a mistake when he got together with Senjougahara. Don't get me wrong I do like her, but this is how it felt to me.

It's definitely cheating that Hitagi's demand for an emotionally-monogamous relationship was never met. People have been calling him out on that since Nise. Shinobu showing up at the timing she did with the prime intention of telling him he can kill her for a normal life was not coincidental.
As for getting with Hitagi, she has plays an important supportive role for him, but has always been on the backburner compared to Shinobu. The imbalance in how he treats them is one of the main conflicts in the series, it's hard to say where Nisio is going with it.

To be honest I have been thinking about this, but it also confuses me. Remember that in route X, Kiss-shot said that she ran away because of mere jealousy. When Araragi died she felt as if she lost half of herself. She destroyed the world because he died, that is how important Araragi was to her, he meant so much to her that she went with that childish thing she said about destroying the world if Araragi didn't find her.
So Araragi gets a girlfriend, which he is apparently serieus about. So shinobu comes and tells him to kill her, Araragi refuses of course. I always thought she ran away sinply yes, bacause she was jealous of the attention Araragi was giving the other girls instead of her. but then she comes back in nise and asks him to kill her in order to go back being a human. But then the whoke running away thing doesn't make sense to me.

Because Kabuki happened after Nise. So by Kabuki he would have had time to be in love with her and want to kiss her, especially since she was joking about it earlier. I don't think she was furious with him or anything, was she? Running away seemed more like one of her whims, it's just that Araragi getting killed unintentionally caused the situation to escalate out of control. Add in the positive resolution in Bake and the time passed to Nise, and it's no surprise she's mellowed out a bit.
Also Shinobu was prepared to go with his choice either way, but she was clearly pleased that he'd picked her in the end.

Here's my interpretations of Shinobu's view of early events:
The first way Shinobu saw Araragi was as her solitary ray of hope after nearly six centuries of suffering. So she clung to him, even though she was pissed at him because she had nothing else she could do. But Araragi wasn't treating her as anyone particularly special, so she was uncertain and afraid. Then she ran away because she was depressed and desperate and felt like it might get her some answers.
In Route X, Araragi died and she could feel her connection with him get severed which was traumatic because it had been bolstering her through that time of uncertainty (she feels the same thing in the main route when Gaen kills Araragi) so there went her sole source of comfort because of her own actions and she went ballistic.
In the main route Shinobu got front row seats to Araragi putting Hanekawa's issues on hold and prioritize looking for her, which was just the indication she wanted. So she was content and saved Araragi from an untimely demise.
Flash forward to the bath scene in Nise and Shinobu is ready to make up and more firmly grasp her ray of hope. Asking Araragi to kill her was her way of confirming if he was serious about staying with her. If having to watch time leave him behind is too much, then she can die, ender her suffering, and undo the damage to Araragi that she still feels guilty about. If he decides to stand by her regardless then she can seriously try to have a happy life for once. She was fine with either answer.
Then they made up and Shinobu got a positive, meaningful relationship for the first time ever and she became happier than she dared to even hope for.
