I did a minor binge through Lost Children and Tower of Conviction arcs and Miura goes through periods where he repeats a particular way of drawing eyes over and over again, and it's not the same way of doing eyes.
Like during the tower of convictions there's this period when he repeatedly uses this weird fisheye-lense type shot of people staring wide eyed at things that I think he simply realised after a while doesn't convey what he was trying to convey with it as much as he'd like so it just never shows up again.
Further more I'd put it to you that this is always how he drew children's eyes, this is just a period when there is a lot more children who aren't starving to death or dying from disease than previously in the manga.
Gonna be a real shame when Guts has to slaughter the entire village.

There are plenty of people who wanted for naught in Berserk before this. The noble families in many places certainly did. Quite possibly Flora and Schierke too. The stuff surrounding Guts is always awful for reasons explained in the text. It doesn't mean that everything in the entire world must be awful all the time, no matter how grim the setting.
