That was actually one of the complaints the animators threw at Super's director. Apparently he's very pushy regarding keeping to the "official" character sheets, rather than giving them freedom which just hurt the schedule even more. It might have been one of the reasons he was dropped from the show, so we might start seeing that kind of art variation now since he was replaced.

I meant consistent with the story. Every time there was a timeskip, Gohan got older and Bulma's hair changed. Super's character designs are static but don't make sense in the continuity.
Anyway, I don't like the old anime either.
