Hi /a/, I have a question. I have an extreme loathing for this character and I want to know how rational it is.
I don't watch anime, nor do I read manga frequently. I've watched one full anime series (Nichijou) in my lifetime and read 2 manga series (Koe no Kitachi and Fruits Basket). I don't hate it! I quite enjoy the art direction, but I'm just not interested. I don't watch/read Western animation/comics, so I'm not some type of "kys weebs" douchebag.
This character. I've seen her in a lot of reaction images around the chan. I don't know her name nor do I know anything about her or the anime she is from.
I hate the way she is drawn. It looks like the culmination of every single thing wrong about "modern anime" (I don't have anything against modern anime, but in general terms...)
The way this character drawn fucking irritates me to no end. Why? I'm sure it's not a serious anime. I'm sure it's something from a "slice of life" anime, like Nichijou. something that's completely lighthearted and fun. Why do I hate her so goddamn much? Why does seeing any picture with her make me so upset? Is this rational? What's wrong with me?
There's a lot of Western shit that's equally bad, if not worse, than how this character is drawn. But none of it makes me as assblasted. Is it some kind of bias?
You need to watch the show to understand that that's Umaru's alter ego. You should read it

To some extent she's meant to be an annoying meme character. Essentially, she lives a double life: at school she's the perfect student, and at home she reverts to a blob that only eats junk food and plays video games while constantly whining to her older brother to get what she wants.
