The real problem is that they watch explicitly sexualized shows. Hard to blame them though since those are the most popular and pushed to the front by the medium.
However, there's a lot of good anime with fantastic or interesting premise that don't or barely sexualizes characters. I'm watching Gundam and at least so far (first two shows) the fanservice is almost non existent save for one or two glances out of the entire show and the womem are usually complete characters in their own right (it helps they're survivors in a fucking War, gender roles matter shit when you have to fight for your life).
