Even with all that said, Kiznaiver is fucking unpleasant. It's like the anime equivalent of that gross feeling in your mouth when you haven't been able to brush your teeth in a long while. Visually it's absolutely stunning, and the concept is a versatile one that could be taken in a number of interesting directions, but something about the way it all comes together is uniquely and utterly repellent. It's like this massive unholy union between Imaishi's masturbatory directing style and Okada loving to hear herself talk. It's just a fucking offputting show.

Kill la Kill had some wobbling around the whole brainwashing thing, but the ending was just stereotypical shonen escalation. Code Geass had moments of insanity, but also reached a stable stop which was worth it. Think of it this way: Lion made a surprisingly healthy decision by putting herself first. I'm sure she really wanted to leave so she could stay with Nanko, but it wasn't worth forcing herself to face something she's not ready to deal with yet.

I did watch the show. Admittedly, I'll have to rewatch it because the one I watched had the audio ahead of the visuals, so it was hard to keep track of what was going on. But even with that, it seemed like it explained a good amount, but I didn't pick up on how they would be able to leave.

Musashi gundoh is legendary in its hilariousness.
