However, the Shogun had planned to let them die anyway. He did not send the reinforcements he planned to send, and left the army out to be annihilated. There frankly doesn't seem to be much logic, but the closest equivalent from what we hear seems to be a shaped charge round, which is an IRL thing used specifically for armor penetration (and what various counter measures like reactive armor is designed to counter in turn). Basically a shaped bit of explosive turns a metal plate into a high speed focused molten metal jet, which in turn can cut through far more armor. However, it's super short range.
That at least fits the dynamics of his gun, he talks about upping the explosive amounts, it's specifically heavy armor piercing, and it's short range. But it makes no sense how it'd somehow apply to long range guns all of a sudden, the steam stuff is dumb, etc. Obviously this is not a show to go caring too much about physics however.

BB was good, but Sakura never lost her fans to her, in fact, it more seems like BB and all the other Sakura clones are treated as Saber's are to her, while Sakura herself is not at all pushed to the side. Hell, she is the 8th most popular TM character overall with ever increasing popularity.
