When will this genre die already?

Outbreak Company, GATE, Grimgar, Konosuba, the list goes on. This shit just gets worse and worse as time goes on. Does Japan really relish the idea of being thrown into another world and all of the women there throwing themselves on their tiny dicks that much? Are Japanese girls that unappealing?

I actually like this trope/setting, and I'm happy that these look like the new popular type of show. At least, I like it a lot more than the previous cash-cow genre of School Battle Harem with Tournaments.

So far, they at least have a more diverse genre than just Harem/Action and bad humor.

It took what I think was a stupid premise and made it fun with likeable characters and a tongue-in-cheek tone. I like that our reincarnated hero is a small part of a larger world, and the first thing that happens is he's forced to do part-time construction work to secure basic food and lodging, and his concerns are things like not freezing to death in winter.

Why the fuck are people surprised that something successful becomes popular. In turn, more copies are generated to try and cash in. Television, cinema, video games and books are all guilty of doing this also.

If you're just now noticing that people copy popular themes to ensure success you must be retarded.
>>

People who only watch anime have no right to complain about isekai.

There's like one show a season, two tops.

Meanwhile, the weekly Oricon rankings for light novels is regularly comprised of >50% shitty isekai novels that publishers picked up straight off of Narou. And when it isn't isekai topping the charts it's fucking Mahouka or some other type of gratuitous power fantasy.

Say what you want about the anime industry but this time around they're actually holding back the cancer for once.
>>
>>142912051
No need to thank the anime industry, if publishers wanted more isekai stuff to get animated studios would be jumping on it. Remember that adaptations are ads paid for by the publishers.

>This shit just gets worse and worse as time goes on

Well, that's really just a matter of opinion, OP. Like it or not, lots of people sincerely enjoy this genre, and are always happy to watch more. You also should try to avoid summing up all these shows as "bad" just because they have the same theme. Each of the shows you mentioned was met with varying degrees of viewer satisfaction. Some faltered where others flourished

For example, Konosuba is somewhat famous for its focus on comedy, completely different from the other shows on your list, most of which take a dark turn in the plot at some point or another. Grimgar had a lot of well animated fight scenes in its first few episodes, but many anons would agree that it was sometimes lacking in character interaction.

What I think I'm trying to say is that you should judge these shows by there individual qualities, not their collective genre. In my opinion, I wouldn't even say that Isekai is a genre at all. It's more like a plot device that's popular because it can be easily used to give the main character a fresh start. It's not over-complicated and it fulfills a basic fantasy that we all have: getting a clean slate.

So, basically, your opinions are fucking garbage and you should kill yourself
>>
>>142911053
>being thrown into another world and all of the women there throwing themselves on their tiny dicks
I don't see what's wrong with that fantasy.
>>
>>142912051
Kagerou Daze LN has still beat out Mahouka LN in yearly volume sales for the past three years. So there's still something that isn't a power fantasy near the very top.

It won't be able to influence any trends though because Kagerou Daze is literally impossible to imitate.
>>
>>142911053
>Outbreak Company, GATE, Grimgar, Konosuba,
All of these are actually quite different from another. Re:Zero is quite different too. The premise might be the same, but the execution differs significantly.
>>
>>142912122
So apparently magic academy battle harems are still more popular than isekai?

All this talk makes me realize that we still haven't gotten an adaption of a true by-the-numbers Narou work yet.

You know, with RPG stats, a demon king, a harem made up of various fantasy races, an adventurer's guild, convenient currency conversions, an OP MC with cheat skills, etc.

Konosuba is literally the closest we've gotten and that's only because it lines up all the cliches in a row to knock them down.

This is hilarious.
I don't think you know the amount and kind of 'different' series that exist on narou starting from some of the craziest shit that you can't even find on Nocturne.

You can easily find the same type of series with the same light hearted humour and lame jokes as Konosuba which is /a/'s first isekai parody seires and is being overhyped to death just because of the anime adaption when it's no better than say いつもの仲間と異世界道中 or この世界がゲームだと俺だけが知っている

I wonder if something like a first tensei parody series with the same lame humour gets an adaption リッチは静かに暮らしたい or maybe 邪竜転生 will it be hailed as the the next masterpiece?

Kagerou Daze appeals to otaku, the problem is that it's a fucking song series and that popularity in that format doesn't usually translate to popularity in anime format so easily.

Not that it matters, because the anon you're replying to is Aniplex guy, and he's likely about to respond with some long rant about modern anime fans and MAL and shit.

Alderamin has gone to the fiery pits of hell with those designs, and you wouldn't even care if the heroine died if she had that design. Why can't they just do a coherent story or adapt something decently? They killing themselves like pic related and only one can remain.

Rayearth s1 was ok. S2 was shit. I didn't even finish it.
>>
>>142914972
Why can't we have an ambitious asshole of an mc become the protagonist? No haremshit antics since the protagonist plans on winning top dog status and win the tournament with no women involved in his life. The only harem going on is the generic mc-kun on the side with his harem being fully beaten by the real mc and the real mc's plan is only on winning. Training, bromance (especially), strategies, and actual worldbuilding that is not awkward as hell.
>>
The only problem with the "being thrown in another world" situation is that 9 times out of 10 it's just an excuse to give a lazy description of the world, either because you can have the mc not knowing everything and the other characters explaining it to him, or because you can just say "it's a mmo/mmo-like world" and you don't have to worldbuild anymore because people already know what it means.
>>
>>142915059
Bullshit, Kuro no Maou led itself into a mess when it had gotten itself into a harem and even I know from the raws that it is going into an absolute mess of a story. Plus the bullet arts is bullshit.

The problem with the isekai genre nowadays is that they are ALL THE SAME FUCKING WORLD with ALL THE SAME FUCKING WORLDBUILDING.

They could just write a massive crossover story that includes Mushoku Tensei, Shield Hero, Kumo, Slime, Overlord, Death March, and whatever other stupid WN you care to throw in there, and the mechanics overlap so closely that the settings are basically interoperable with very few adjustments.
>>
>>142915430
Everything would have to adjust for overlord since it's heavily based on D&D. i agree with shieldbro since they can go world hopping at the end game and it makes sorta sense.

Log Horizon actually has a decently fleshed out world. All the classes, roles, spells, everything about it is well documented and they really kept it up throughout. The main problem with this genre is the same problem with the Video Game Industry in general. An over-emphasis on select genres like MMORPGs.

If you play anything else other than the main genres, you won't feel as strong a connection to these shows.

On another note, I guess the story is when VR does happen all MMOfags will be stuck in a virtual world leaving this Earth for City-Builder, Grand Strategy and RTS master race.
>>

The only way for a series to be bad at being dark is depending on the setting and tone.
> Re:Zero has a setting of magic and kingdoms
It can depend based on the setting of this world but it can be considered dark.
> Re:Zero has multiple tonal shifts.
Most of the things in Re:Zero has its own silver lining. Subaru and hiding some of his own fear and emotions can be one of them. The supposed slice of life has its own development and doubts on its situation as the viewer is actually aware of what is going to happen. The only time when tonal shifts are bad when things are cheerful and such is when it is pointless or lacks meaning (Akame ga Kill and its fanservice crap and shoving in comedy).
>>
>>142916681
> Dog
It was the girl. And she's pretty important in arc 4 if we ever get to have a second season.
>>
>>142911053

I like this genre but only if it's when the MC is flung into the far future or in a science fiction type of setting, not fantasy. I feel like that's been played out way too much at this point. There's a reason why Now and Then, Here and There is still good, the setting is what makes it stand apart.
>>
>>142916826
Half of the time MMORPG and VR are used it's to cover up terrible writing and a lack of creativity as the characters don't actually end up working within those confines at all.
