Only seen the original series. Are the other ones any good? I can't find dubs for them, because the English voices are so much better.

It feels like a return to classic form after the OVAs and movies were the same two jokes over and over again.
But it doesn't last long when it introduces the Slayers' equivalent to Jar Jar Binks in Pokota.
He's bad but tolerable in Revolution. Then he takes over the show in Evolution-R and it really drags the whole thing down, especially since it just does the fuckingRezostory again.

The first season is hands down the best one. Good mix of humor and drama and a fantastic villain. Next went too far with the humor. I distinctly remember one episode where they were dressed as animals and one where Lina with Amelia are wearing sailor moon outfit singing Otome no Inori. The first season had none of that, but instead introduced and developed characters as well as had a great story.

I know that. But in the dub they tried to translate the -sama of sylphiel since calling a childhood friend -sama is weird and they wanted to capture that. So they made her call goury goury-dear.
Overal the situation is fucked, calling goury with his last name as childhood friend is really strange in english, calling someone [name] dear is weird and if I would have to guess what problem they tried to translate I would have guessed -chan, calling someone mister goury would also be retarded.
The biggest tragedy is that they decided for some retarded reason to completely drop the light novels and instead make their fanfiction story instead. Once Revolution was announced I was convinced they're going to follow the official story, but nope. And it is really a bummer because some of them are amazing.

I know some people hate it, but I loved how they introduced Naga in Evolution-R and made her interact with Amelia. It's one of those things every Slayers fan always wanted to see and they finally did it in a way while also making fun of it. The only thing I didn't like is how they portrayed her. She was nothing like Naga from the movies and OVAs. The one in the TV show acted like a complete moron and even her VA made her sound like a cutesy airhead while Naga from the specials felt a lot more different.
Clearly since the mysterious hero in the suit of armor had Amnesia, she forgot her wicked ways and became a HERO OF JUSTICE like Phil and Amelia are.

Gourry is specialized as a swordsman and he's practically useless outside of having free access to the sword of light. There would have been very little difference between him wielding it or Zelgadis.
It's more of a matter that Lina is a genuine monster just like Luna, and the sister pair was always going to be some heaven sent combo of best sorc + best knight. But then Lina fucked up and had to settle for left overs.

Each of them drain a lot of vital energy from her. I remember Lina saying that she needs to eat a good meal to regain strength after casting Dragon Slave in the first season, but it might have been a joke. In any case, the other two definitely make her weak after casting and are very dangerous spells to control to begin with.
