Truth is shouwa was extremely boring and melodramatic, focusing on a dead japanese entertainment practice(dead for a reason).
It pretensciously tries to display said art form as actually interesting by making the audience laugh or cry but in actuallty as a viewer you couldn't care less.
funny rakugo won't make you laugh, sad rakugo doesn't make you cry, it's comedic at best when they try so hard, and oh god where the character drama shit, no one acts in a logical manner to cause "melodrama" the ending was terrible.
You're lying to yourself if you think that show was good, it really wasn't. Just a typical stereotypical melodramatic josei, it's no even the best of it's niche, it was boring trash and that's exactly why literally non one watched it.
