Why do people insist on the "Horo" spelling. I know that's how you would romanize it but that doesn't make it correct.
Or is it just a meme?
>>
>>142726898
It's weeb nonsense and/or a meme, depending on the person.

>>142726898
Because "Horo" is the closest to how you would actually pronounce it. "Holo" is just misleading.

Yeah, but pronunciation of the 'o' is implied to be different depending on the letters next to it. People with no knowledge of the series are very likely to pronounce "Holo" as in the first half of "hologram' or just draw out tho 'o' sounds for too long, but there's very little room to misinterpret "Horo". I don't give a fuck about the official romanization from a jap because that's not an English translation. Yen Press shouldn't have either and god knows that's not the only mistake they made with the localization.
>>
>>142728403
The series clearly takes place in a European setting and the actual spelling in Latin script has been shown to be Holo (inb4 Korbo). Your slavish devotion to the Japanese pronunciation is misplaced and still inaccurate in either case.
>>
>>142728681
>slavish devotion to the Japanese pronunciation
Again, that's a romanization. Not a translation. I spell it "Horo" specifically because I'm not the sort of autistic faggot who insists on calling "Lelouch" "Ruruushu". It's not about L versus R. It's about having a name that isn't awkward and ugly in English. Everyone who knew about the series before Yen Press got it called her Horo because it's the best translation.

If I remember correctly one of themes of final novels was Lawrence accepting fact that he will eventually perish, and wanted Holo to move on, and don't stuck in grieving.

Except I spent a post detailing how "Holo" is ambiguous and awkward. Literally the only reason to use "Holo" is because Yen Press said so and you're also ignoring all the other stupid name translations they did. If you call her that then you're a newfag and/or secondary.

inb4 >most of /a/ calls her that now
Guess what most of /a/ is.
>>
>>142724570
What is the best release of this story? LN?
>>
Some thoughts after reading all the novels:

-Cole wasn't that bad a character.

-The Side Colors books were somewhere between boring and awful, other than Nora's story.

-There's very little character/relationship development from vol 5 until around vol 15. Not that they're bad, but they're 95% SOL when most people are reading the series to see Lawrence and Horo grow closer.

-Lawrence is dense to the point of mental disability. He doesn't even realize Horo really wants him until the end of the story, and in the epilogue after they've been living together for three years he still has no idea what's on her mind.

-The books involving other pagan creatures and Eve are pretty good. The others you can probably skip if you're not interested in the power of money.

-Speaking of Eve, as the series went on I found her a more interesting character than Horo. She sure gets strangled a lot, too. Considering she hates all men but Lawrence, I'd kill for a side story of her learning to love again. I can see it involving age gap yuri.

-Honestly, Horo does have a really bitchy streak that never goes away.

-Yen Press needs a goddamn proof reader. Typos and sentences full of poor grammar actually get worse in later books.

>>142733160
>Except I spent a post detailing how "Holo" is ambiguous and awkward.
How the pronunciation of this word is ambiguous and awkward, you mean. I would make the same argument for Horo.

>Literally the only reason to use "Holo" is because Yen Press said so
Plus the author, plus the anime.
>>
>>142733229
I agree with Cole not being that bad, he wasn't really necessary but he served as a sorta practice child, showing how the two would react with a kid. He only cockblocks a couple of times, the rest are on Lawrence.
The side stories were alright, Eve's origin story was probably the greatest thing, her character was pretty damn cool.
>>
>>142725241

>>
>>142734241
>i don't know the difference between romanization and translation
Like I said earlier, and to use your own example:
"Ruruushu" is a romanization. "Holo" is a romanization. They're intended for Japanese speakers.
"Lelouch" is a translation. "Horo" is a translation. They're intended for English speakers.

There's a reason literally every fan translation chose "Horo" instead of "Holo" before Yen Press went full retard and asked someone who doesn't speak English for an English translation.
>>
>>142734241
"Horo" is only has one way an English speaker will interpret it. Unless you'd like to provide examples of how any sane person would misinterpret it like I have for "Holo".
>>

"Holo" is truly correct spelling.

>Also, just to quickly address the comment about the decision to use “Holo” instead of “Horo”… This was discussed at length with our licensor in Japan, and based on their preference — presumably through conversation with the original editorial staff and author — we were instructed that the proper spelling of the character’s name is indeed Holo. Who are we to argue?

Just curious, how exactly do you think people pronounce "hologram", and how do you think "Horo" would be instinctively pronounced? Like the beginning of "Horoscope"?

Because that changes pretty heavily depending on accent.
>>
>>142735464
He's right though.

Holo sounds awkward in English, like it should be a prefix from Greek, as in "hologram" or "holocaust".
Horo on the other hand sounds early Germanic, and has an old Anglo-saxon mouthfeel, like "Horst" or "Horkell". Which matches the setting.

Not how it went. It's a special service at the onsen, in which a group comes in and one person plays the "deceased" and gets a mock funeral held for them. All the "deceased's" friends and relatives come up and say everything they would say were it a real funeral. They get it all off their chest so that the "deceased" can hear it and be honored/grateful/etc.. Basically, it's a service to get people to open up and say everything they want to say to someone, before it's too late and all you can do is say "I never had a chance to tell them..."

If you ever read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, it's pretty much like that part where Tom and Huck listen in on their own funerals and get so touched at all the nice stuff people were saying about them telling all their feelings that the two never knew the people had felt for them.
>>
>>142739427

That's kinda true. My younger cousin was killed last October and about 350 people who we had no idea who the fuck they were showed up at the funeral. Everyone had a story about him no one else had heard. I ended up dating a woman who knew him as a kid.

"Seeing a tall woman wasn't rare, but such a prestigious one? Definitely.

“I am Eve Boland.”

She speaks her name like she's delivering a report. Her height contrasts with how thin she
appears, but then calling her "thin" isn't quite correct; it's more accurate to say that her body
has no excess meat on it. Whatever perfume she's wearing, it vaguely reminds me of wild
beasts.

My master is fairly tall, but Eve is much taller still. But there is more than just a height
difference between these two. My master's slowly been growing fatter over the years, all
except for the one area where it counts the most. This lady with the wolf-like appearance has her beat in that department."

Reminder that Eve turns into a busty elegant Christmas Cake
