Well, I've got nothing to do tonight so time for another delinquent thread. You know the drill, post shit, moan about lack of scans etc. Delinquentanon has finished scanlating Bakuon Rettou volume 10 and it ended on a great note, but I'm not dumping it since it doesn't make any sense without having read all of BR so far (unlike BBH whose chapters work as stand alone gags). So instead, I'll be dumping Kiku, the one-shot volume from Hiroshi Takahashi, written a little after Crows started.
Ah for fuck's sake I missed the other thread in the catalog but whatever, better not to shit it up.
>>142650881
I read crows a bit and I thought the fights were all sort of samey and boring. Is there any delinquent stuff that has fights a bit more technical or interesting?
I have read Holyland but I dont know if that actually counts.
I'm here reading this stuff, OP.
Also whatever happened to the Rokudenashi Blues scanlation effort?
>>142651574
If you mean fights that are realistic then I'm not sure. Maybe some of Rokudenashi Blues since it is all boxing and a small bit of wrestling but it isn't as 'realistic' as Holyland is. Clover is a Crows clone but the fights are a little better I think, some of the characters have more distinct fighting styles.
In terms of being technical I'm not sure if anything goes into the same detail as Holyland.
>>142651811
I would settle for people fighting more differently from each other or just the fights being more fun to look at even if they are dumb.
>>142651771
Probably still happening but very, very slowly.
Speaking of RokuBlues, delinquent anon also scanlared a chapter of Beshari Gurashi, Masanori Morita's manga after RB and Rookies about Manzai comedy. It's actually not bad, the art is astounding, Morita really is a special talent.
>>142651905
If you ever want a delinquent series that goes full retard with its fights but are very unique then Sakigake Otokojuku is for you. But they are all fun shounen battle manga tier fights, don't expect any sort of reasonable fist fights in it.
Worst had a bit more variety in fights than Crows but only a little.
I'm here reading this stuff OP. Thank you for the dump, please keep it up.
>>142652487
Oh fug
He would have done it as well, the actual madman.
End of the chapter 1 (fuck me I'm going to be doing this for ages at this rate).
One of the many reasons I really like Kiku is because the MC isn't very typical as far as yankii manga go. You can imagine a guy his age being that way. Yet for example with someone like Takashi Kase from Bakuon Rettou it feels more forced and less natural than it does with Kiku. For me anyway.
Official thread theme/album by the way.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rraKmslxZw
I'm here. Feel like dropping chapter 2? I like reading manga in threads, feels like I'm reading it with other people.
>>142652945
This desu
This dude is super butthurt about something.
>>142652854
Never read that other manga but Kiku certainly is well caracterized. That anger he has, which is really just an outlet for his pain that people around him despise him makes it very easy to empathize with him. Moreover the more he lets it out the more people despise him. It's depressingly similar to the real life viciuos cycle delinquents go through irl.
>>142652945
>>142652990
Planning on dumping the whole volume, it's just going to take ages. Captcha and I have very different ideas about what a street sign, a mountain and a store front is, which is slowing shit down.
>>142652998
We were all like that once.
>>142653018
Pretty accurate.
Also read Bakuon Rettou, it's great. I just find it hard to believe the MC in it is a tough delinquent guy (I mean, he sort of isn't in one respect) but that doesn't matter. It's really good.
These two are cool guys.
Oooh nice i like delinquent mangas. any good ones that are fully scanlated besides Crows, Worst, KKOW, and Rookies?
>>142650881
can someone explain to me the appeal of delinquent manga?
>>142653498
I like seeing people who have similar problems to mine, but haven't accepted the fact that they will never go away yet.
>>142653498
nope
you gotta feel it in your heart!
I like it so far OP, thanks for the dump
>>142653478
Angel Densetsu is one of my favourites. Bakuon Rettou will soon enough be completely scanlated, guaranteed. If you like battle shounen then Otokojuku and Hareluya II Boy. Shibatora is completed and is technically about the police but has delinquents through. GTO might count as well I guess.
How out of date is this ancient image?
>>142653690
Oh yeah i love GTO and Angel Densetsu.
Will probably read Hareluya II Boy but i'm scared because that guys other manga, Bremen, was garbage.
Never heard of Bakuon Rettou or Shibatora, will check them out.
Otokojuku i'm hesitant to start since iirc it's getting better scans
>>142653832
>Go home, take a shit and go to bed!
Words to live by.
Like I said, these are cool guys.
>>142653698
We are meant to be updating it but none of us can be arsed to do it.
>>142653837
I don't really expect much else from Haruto Umezawa than battle shounen type stories so I wasn't expecting Bremen to be good. In that respect, it's better than I thought.
And I wasn't aware there was any problem with the Sakigake Otokojuku scans, why are they being re-done?
>>142653408
top kek
Time for chapter 3.
>>142653498
For me, most delinquent manga are stories of very close friendship. Although characters might deny it, the bonds they have with their comrades are often the most important things in their lives and that's nice to see in this cynical modern age. Not to mention they are usually in a period of their lives where they don't worry about the sort of things that an adult has to deal with, everything seems so simple from their eyes.
Also personally they remind me of my schooldays. Objectively speaking my life is now better than it was back then what with work, more opportunities and everything, but I think like a lot of people I would trade it all in to go back to those days when nothing mattered. It's immature but whatever.
A very minor thing but I like when Takahashi starts drawing faceless guys for some reason.
>>142654418
You're right, that's cool. Especially while keeping the same perspective.
>>142654562
that's kinda cute
>>142654418
sheeeeeeiiiit
>>142655111
I don't know why, but this manga is giving me a really "western comic"-vibe. I think it's the choice of perspective in the panels.
Chapter 4.
I find it nice that Kiku thinks about stuff like this.
>>142655658
haha. by the way, how old are they supposed to be?
>>142655949
However old middle school people are I guess.
>>142655949
they're about to graduate middle school so like 15
they look way too grown up
You're a true inspirtation Kiku.
>>142655949
>>142655982
They are 15 or 16 in this, last year of junior high school and then they start senior high school in the next chapter.
Keep going OP.
How Many Chapters has been translated?
Takahashi's art isn't always technically stunning (it is on some occasions though) but his facial expressions are effective. Obviously not like MoriGOATs but no one can match him.
>>142656044
I agree but at the same time I know first hand what it's like to look a decade older than you actually are.
>>142656207
7 chapters. Just over half way now.
>>142656338
Is the series allready over, or is it still going?
Chapter 5.
>>142650881
because you kept mentioning it I looked up Bakuon Rettou
it's by Tsutomu Takahashi? so basically amazing art while being depressing as hell?
>>142656367
They were only a series of one off chapters which were released in like 92 and collected for this one volume. No more of it exists after the last chapter. But that's good, it ends on a nice note and keeps with the general tone set out by the manga.
>>142656550
Cool, thanks for the info man.
>>142656521
>because you kept mentioning it I looked up Bakuon Rettou
It appears the shameless marketing has worked. Essentially yes, artwork is fucking amazing, as you can tell from the OP pic. It's not always massively depressing but there are a lot of very depressing moments. It's like as if the worst shit that can really happen to people has al happened at once to one guy.
>>142656576
I keep flip flopping between deciding if this or Crows is Takahashi's best work.
Again, he was really going to do it.
>>142653059
Go rad a book, sheesh.
I liked this page.
>>142656773
>this or Crows is Takahashi's best work
Huh. Would be between Kiku, QP and Worst for me.
Like this page as well. He used to do this "show characters without showing the eyes" thing a lot in early Crows but he gave it up later on and pretty much never did it in Worst. It's a nice perspective.
>>142656825
>>142656874
>>142656926
I knew a kid who was fucked up like that and never knew when to stop. He ended up stabbing a dude behind a dairy queen
Why are female delinquents so CUTE?
This chapter is full of great pages. I don't know what exactly it is I like about this one but again, it's very nice.
>>142657276
Fuck, that's such a good page. Would be a great place to end.
>>142657341
Yeah, I love the angles they show. It's really intresting on how each author draws camera perspectives.
>>142657152
When I first read Worst I thought it was a bit better than Crows, on re-reading both I changed my mind. The quality of Worst is decent all the way through whereas the last third of Crows isn't amazing, but the best bits of Crows is better than any of Worst. QP is good as well but I prefer the setting of Crows.
What is the best delinquent hairstyle and why is it the pompadour?
>>142657386
>Would be a great place to end.
Now that you pointed it out, yeah it would be.
>>142657498
Nothing else comes close.
Chapter 6.
>>142657660
Goddamnit i'm smiling like a retard over this frendship.
>>142657754
It gets even more great in a little bit.
>>142657762
Damn. I love how he is showing us that Kiku isn't even looking at the teachers/doesn't think they are important by not showing their faces in the panels.
Thanks for posting OP.
Actually I enjoy this way much that I thought I would enjoy at first. This is really good.
What a change.
>>142657427
To me, Worst was always the more polished Crows. Maybe becasue it was my first delinquent manga, but it stood out to me among all of them.
Shit. I love Bakuon Rettou, it's so fresh. Keep up the good work!
>The days when you had friends like these are pretty much gone forever
>>142657964
I had the same feeling when I first read it.
It's probably a stretch to say Kiku works on the level of social commentary like something like Ashita no Joe (since nothing in manga does like AnJ), but he brings up some good points which are still relevant 24 years on.
>>142658125
A lot of Worst is good, in particular the fights. But on the whole I prefer some of the characters from Crows more than in Worst. In particular I didn't really like anyone from the 5th or the 7th generation of TFOA (Tesshou was absolutely based though). I think the art was better in Crows, it's more polished in Worst like you said, but it gives a more gritty vibe in Crows, especially in the middle parts.
Another fantastic page. I like pages like this, where by this point everyone gets caught up into thinking that these characters are older than they really are and doing all sorts of mad shit, and then someone says something which makes you remember they are still practically children.
We come to the final chapter in the Kiku saga, chapter 7.
>>142659682
daaaamn
>>142659844
I might be wrong, but during the KKOW dumps I think there was only like 10 or so people in each thread. Some threads have a lot more though.
Damn, I wanted to save my first read of Kiku for the 18-year old, mint condition raw volume I got for $1.
>>142660048
I'm not sure where I got it from but probably there yeah, I think the scans were by [Banchou].
I tend to make a delinquent thread for new Be-bop High School chapters when I can be arsed.
>>142660134
While that sounds cool, what better way to read yankii manga with your fellow delinquent bros.
Those are the eyes of someoe ready to kill.
I posted these last few pages in an older thread as an example of a fantastic ending sequence. They are overall the best pages in this manga.
>>142660556
I like it.
Keep going, OP.
The faceless thing works well in these pages as well.
>>142660681
Darker in what way?
>>142660556
Sick page
And there it is, on the one before last page, the fundamental question of the story.
>Are we really all that bad
Here's the answer perhaps.
And so ends a bumper edition of the semi-regular delinquent thread.
Since I didn't post the little omake pages at the end, I'll post them now.
>>142660860
Damn, this was my 1st deliquent manga and I don't regret it one bit. Unless you count DiU but that's not really one to be honest
Damn, that was reeeaally good. Thanks a lot OP! See you in the next one hopefully!
>>142660902
Man, you had a ton of chances in fall. There was a thread every day.
>>142659844
It's pretty specific subject matter, I'm not surprised.
>>142658161
i want to go back to highschool
You the man Takahashi.
>>142660902
Consder checking out the author's other works, Crows, Worst and QP. All three are completed, all are pretty good in their own way but not quite as impactful as Kiku. Then move onto one of the Crows clones like Clover and A-bout!, both of which are great as well.
>>142661210
>>142660902
Lurk for two years before posting.
>>142661095
I had the same group of friends from the age of 4 up until 18 but we didn't stay in touch once we went to uni. Now at work I change location every 4 to 6 months so everyone is just a fleeting acquitance who I never stay in touch with after work is done. Ain't got any homies anymore, kind of sucks.
>>142661503
>>142661562
Yeah I know, I visited /a/ every 1 month or so before I mainly stayed on /a/ for these past few months after I started to readKaiji and Jojo's Bizarre adventure.
>>142660860 >>142660802
>>142660762 >>142650881
>one volume
Wait, so that's it?
Fuck.
>>142661565
>tfw never really had a group of bros because I was a fucking retard as a kid
So many wasted opportunities you wouldn't believe.
>>142661565
Nonsense. You have us.
Thanks for keeping the spirit alive, ONE.
>>142662324
Not an unfair decision anon I think we can all agree.
>>142662324
Good point, even though i'd like to see a /a/ meetup where we all dress up as yankisI call being Takashi Kamiyama
>>142661815
I only keep in touch in with one of them on a regular basis. The people I work with are too different to be anything other than colleagues, most of them are really posh as well.
>>142661846
That's it. Better to be short and sweet than never ending and turn to shit isn't it though.
>>142662502
I basically look like Hana already so I'll go as him.
>>142662240
Everytime I hear Metal Bat speak I think of what could have been with Josuke in Diamond Is Unbreakable. Yuki Ono is much less shit than I thought he was going to be but he can't compare to this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP1c1JuCa00
Also, I don't know if anyone is keeping up with it but a new chapter of Clover was out recently. There's actually loads of that scanlated now that I think about it, which is good because it's pretty cool.
