The story of Macross wasn't about Hikaru choosing between Misa and Minmay, it was about Hikaru and Minmay being of 'separate' worlds (military and entertainment) so it was impossible to happen. Freyja and Hayate are the opposite of that storytelling, they belong on the same world and unit (Chaos) and function as a singer-dancer, lady-knight protector pair, windermere-human bridge and symbol of coexistence. Mirage really brings nothing to the table to match Hayate. She offers him nothing, as Freyja did. Only she can hope to receive, making their relationship one sided.

Kaname really shined with Axia but I still think Freyja carries her vocals the best. It's kind of funny how I thought Mikumo was the best and she does have pipes but I've been thinking Freyja is outclassing her at pretty much most oppurtunities
Reina actually has a kind of nice voice. I mean, I'm only going by Silent Hacker here but it suits her. Makina just sucks though.

My main problem with the series right now is that if Hayate's strength is battroid mode then why isn't he using it?
I was expecting him to have some Amuro tier skills in the vf-31, but he usually only spends time in the sky (which is understandable considering the knights' tactics)
But I was hoping he'd be able to find a way to use the battroid up there or to force them into fighting him in his element somehow.
then there's the gerwalk mode which he hasn't used too often either.
I just really hope they'll focus on the other modes as well with this series.

Remember how alto did that in the movies and series?
There was this one scene in the 2nd movie that gets posted a lot where Alto and Brera are fighting and he transforms mid air for a few seconds to turn around shoot down drones and continue flying.
Alto also used to pull off flips and other acrobatics in gerwalk and battroid throughout the series as well,
and it's not like hayate hasn't done so before in the first ep alone we saw him dodging bullets with breakdancing and in a vf-171 no less!
I'm just kinda bothered because he could easily pull off feats similar to alto's and even better at his current level,but his use of the 3 modes feels so restricted.

If you watched all the previous macross series, battroid mode can't hit jack shit against an ace in fighter mode, it's only good for avoiding/hitting missiles and killing grunts.
Gerwalk has balance of speed of fighter and mobility of battroid, it's good for narrow places like road or inside spaceship.

It's also because Mikumo didn't have an emotional moment like Freyja and Kaname did. You could hear the emotions in their songs because of the situation they are in.

To bad there's so little vf action inside a spaceship in frontier and delta so gerwalk is basically useless.
Prediction: At some point when fighting Hayate Keith will pull the same maneuver he used to kill Messer, and it will look like it worked at first, but when the smoke clears Hayate will have his barriers up and scoot out of the way just in time for Mirage to have the killing shot.
